I just got back from the show and I picked up my Crimea set, its looks fabulous and it get's better...the 2nd set is anchored by Lord Cardigan and it upstages the fantastic set 1 ever so slightly :) I havent been as excited about a series as the original Arnhem.

I took a look for the treefrogers, I wanted to introduce myself but I wasn't able to really identify anyone  I did have to spend most of Saturday shopping at Ikea and the mall with the wife, we planned on going to the dinner buffet Saturday night but I was overuled and instead had dinner at PF Changs near the Woodfield Mall.

Hope everyone had a good time!

John

Great meeting you and your wife.

Thanks for the kind words on the Crimean. We had a lot of feedback on this from your guys at the show.........there was a lot of comparisen to St Petersburg and alike.

And i think you should be thankful your wife let you loose as much as she did!!

Tony/Bob, I checked out your Crimea range on your vids last week and was amazed at the poses and detail. They're not a range I'd buy because I'm a dyed in the wool WWII nut, but they sure are great.

OZ

Its funny you say that the order of those that did not buy were as follows:-

1, Not their range........but would buy it if was, collect other K&C (You)
2, Not enough space as already collect a mass of K&C
3, Already have Crimean in other makes
4, Cannot afford it as already collect other toy soldiers in general but are great
5, too expensive!

having said that we had a guy come back on day three of the room trading saying he has not seen anything as good abought the range.

We also had a guy (Merv) who is on a round the world trip with his wife take a detour from NY to Chicago and his words were 'to see the Crimean range' i asked him to repeat what he said as i could not believe it at first. Merv and his wife are from OZ!!!!! this knocked me back.

I think I may have said this to you and Bob and at this point who knows who else but I think from a sculpting point of view this is the best K & C figures ever made and, short of St. Petersburg, the best figures I've ever seen. It actually may be better than St. Petersburg and it's certainly less expensive.

I'm anxiously awaiting Series two, which I signed up for in Chicago.

Again, I'm repeatiing myself but the Nevilles should be complimented because I know this was a financial risk but in hindsight a risk that I'm glad they took.

Last year, I thought the Honour Bound field kitchens were the release of the year although arguably so were the Figarti Tigers. This year, there is no question what is the release of the year: K & C UK's Crimean Range.

OZ,
It's a fantastic range and well worth branching out from WWII - honestly. :):)

When the Crimea was unveiled back in London last year i was about to start collecting Naps as my only non WW2 K&C collection.Boy i'm so glad i waited!! This range has really blown me away. The quality and realism are just superb. When you get down at eye level and look at these lancers on a dio base its easy to see the time and effort that have made these figures so good and so popular.Even the Russian officer with the sword looks like he's walking into action with real purpose!.I have family and friends who pop into my office upstairs and they often stand and admire my WW2 Collection and say they think its a great collection. Then their eyes fall upon the 'Charge' and they just think its stunning.I think when a set or dio really impresses people who don't or wouldn't collect, it says a lot.

The second wave look just as good even better possibly. There is IMHO not a weak figure in the whole set and i can't wait to get my hands on them. For me (and i know it sounds a little mordbid)the best figure is the guy with the lance in him,top quality figures and i can understand why people are mentioning them in the same breath as St Petersburg figures.

Rob

I would be remiss if I didn't add my thoughts on this range.

In the past I have resisted collecting the Crimean War purely on the basis that it was too close to the figures I collect from the Napoleonic War produced by K&C, in other words, another horse and musket period.

Having had yet another look at the posts on this forum and at the photo's on the K&C UK website, I finally gave up and orderd a Charging Lancer and the Russian Cannon and crew.

Tony.......many thanks (I spoke to Mike last Friday) for getting these out to me so quickly.

I agree with everything that has been said above and I would like to add that these are probably the best figures that I have ever owned since I started collecting soldiers 30 years ago! Not only are the figures first rate but so are the boxes they come in, absolutely brilliant all round and huge amounts of the Kudos stuff to all at K&C UK :)

Tony,

Not at all.....give credit where credit's due :)

I am looking forward to carrying on with this range and adding a few more figures at the December show.

I Think The Crimea Line Is Some Of Best I Have Seen. That Also Includes The Expensive Russian Products. I Will Buy The Crimea Stuff Before I Would Buy Anything Els.

Can't disagree with that. I'm really looking forward to Set 2. Not moaning, but I would have preferred another 11th Lancer in this next release instead of Lord Cardigan though. Or maybe Lord George Paget with that cigar in his teeth. Maybe the third release will have a Nolan personality figure.
Sheesh, getting carried away here - but I'd also love to see a Mrs Fanny Duberly personality figure as well. And, and, Flashman reluctanly riding into the guns - of course......!!!!!
Better stop, right now.
;);):):):)

As Harry has brought up the subject of the third wave,i wonder if this will still be the Charge or will they move on?.

I would think "The Thin Red Line" might be next on the agenda.
Don't get me wrong, I think the Lord Cardigan figure is brilliant......but I would have preferred another lancer, not just a Bugler.
I'd still like to see some other personality figures though.
As far as these are concerned, my vote would go to, in no particular order;

Lord George Paget
Sir Colin Campbell
A mounted Flashman - with a look of pure terror on his face and rising out of the saddle (see GMF's Flashman At The Charge)
The Lady With the Lamp - Florence Nightingale
Mrs Fanny Duberly - maybe along the lines of the famous photo of her mounted on a horse with her husband holding the reins.
Captain Nolan - maybe as the first casualty of the charge

I would have to go with this as well, the 93rd would make a great scene and it also introduces the Russian cavalry into the mix. I think this would be another magnificent set to own.

Me too Harry,i'd be happy with another half dozen Lancers!.Though i really like the Cardigan fig. Some good suggestions there Harry. You gotta smile at the Flashman figure, you can just picture his pure terror!

Rob

You're right Rob. More Lancers would be great. I still feel robbed that Andy never made more Scots Greys - at least an officer. :(

Guys

No secret! i will be in HK on Thursday and meeting up with Andy and the team on Tuesday to discuss the next wave of the Crimean campaign.

Just so you know the logic will be:-

We may move away from an area of the campaign but we will not leave it......ie if we do another part of the campaign and bring out, lets say 8 figures there will be a couple also done to add back to the other range. So if we do move away from the charge (as i feel it looks cool....and easily collectible at the moment) we will do the next part of the campaign and add another one or two peices to the charge at the same time. And so forth and so on until you end up with as big or as little a scene as you want.

Altogether now - Flashman - Flashman - Flashman.
Okay, Flashy never existed, although according to the website when GMF wrote the first books, some eminent historians residing in a certain country whose inhabitants talk a sort of English actually believed he was a real historical figure, apparently.
He would be such a fun figure to add to the charge for those of us who don't take these things quite as seriously as others.
The Russian officer in the first release looks pretty much how I imagined Ignatieff. So, how about it guys?

Cheers

Harry

If there is a Flashman to do this is Andy's one. He likes the flash man caractor and its not out for others to do.

Plus i would rather get some great detailed 17th, 11th or 13th or or or or ..................or if i had the cash a mass more!
