This is from the sculptors' website. They do AIP's plastics plus their own metal line. Most of the AIP troops are included as metal figures on the site. They have a lot of very nice metal ranges on there that would be great additions to AIP's plastic line. I particularly like the Mexican/American War guys and the WW1 troops with BEF caps and Campaign hats. I really hope AIP puts these out in plastic soon.

hmmm....very interesting!! Nice find!! Not to shabby looking either...I guess these are Taliban fighters as opposed to Iraqi insurgents.

The last time I talked to Tony (owner of AIP) I asked him about the fighters against his modern troops and his reply was maybe next year.
Prior to that he said this year using some Figarti poses and revamped AIP Afghans.
My summation is don,t hold your breath on these.

After I saw a metal range of Rogers' Rangers and Woodland Indians on the Liberty site that were done in the traditional AIP "toy soldier" look (and not used by AIP) as well as considering the more realistic look of the Modern Americans compared to the toy soldier style Afghans prototypes, I am now inclined to agree that we probably won't get these in plastic. I think AIP is going to start doing more realistic style soldiers now. I have a feeling the Rogers Rangers and Indians and the Mujahideen I saw on the Liberty site were rejected by AIP in favor of more realistic designs.

Still, I would really love to get some more of the Liberty metal sets done in plastic by AIP. I hope they at least complete the WW1 range. I would love to have the WW1 BEF British in caps to use painted as Mexican Federales against my Weston Banditos. The Campaign hat Americans would be great as Pershing's troops as well.

Did Armies In Plastic mention the identity of their next set ?

AIP do have some nice stuff but they add new sets at a painfully slow snail pace...Rough Riders will become old and crepid before they get to fight anyone.
There moden sets would be more fun to use them againts some Alians...Battle of LA {sm3}

I vote for Regal 1066 Mounted Norman Knights in plastic!

AIP should stick to 1700-1900-ish. If they did "proper" Union Infantry in forage caps, knapsacks, and sack coats, they would sell unlimited boxes. I still add their excellent Confederates to my forces but all their Union are special units. Field artillery would be nice as their heavy artillery is stuck in forts and sieges.

I wouldn't mind 1914 era French and British infantry to go with their 1914 Germans.
