I would enjoy seeing a historical military reenactment space on the forum due to the fact that I have seen and met quite a few collectors of military miniatures that have also participated in Historical military reenactment groups.

I guess to consider this post as both a suggestion and a poll.

If you look under the "Shows and Show Reports" there are mentions of Re-enactments every now and then.

I find a difference between the Toy Soldier collector community and the Military Re-enactor folks. I really enjoy going to and seeing the events, (went to one a few weeks ago at the Henry Knox Mansion in Maine AWI encampment) eating the food,{sm4} but I never considered joining one.

Not sure if there are many guys on this forum that belong to a group or many re-enactors that collect Toy Soldiers.

There is a couple on here into the re-enacting bit Arnhem44 partakes. I perused a site for a Kampfgruppe who were very strange and seemed to take it very far and very serious. I understand why its done for shows etc but, when you start letting it take over your life and using the ranks as if they are real!!! its time to seek medical assistance. I am all for a section though for thoise who want to discuss and learn more about the more sane groups. Would be very interesting actually

A reenactor’s section would be great. I recently joined
a Civil War reenactor unit. And am really looking forward to being at the Gettysburg
150th .

Below-photos from this last weekend’s annual CW re-enactment held at Estacada Oregon.

Is that sergeant in the file closer position a woman or a long haired man?

That is a man.

You might want to have a talk with him about how he represents a United States soldier, especially a sergeant, in the 1860s.

Reenactors with a loose interpretation of the period are why reenactors in general fail to impress the public as "serious." This may why it's 6 to 5 (currently) against a reenactment space here. I voted favorably myself.

Don’t think that would be appropriate on my part.
Who am I-who just joined up-to go around telling fellow reenactor’s what is historically accurate or not-or give unsolicited grooming advice?(it would be akin to me, say, giving advice about or discussing aspects of old lead Britains figures on this forum{eek3}). Also, haven’t met him, he’s not in my unit so won’t be seeing him except at events like the above.

But Scott, you might want to communicate your feelings about this issue yourself-you’ll find the contact info here:

Hey Roan, Thanks for the link to the units. I used to do the 5th NHV (2nd Corps, "Saviors of the Union!")in the 80s 90s and early 00s in the EAST. We went through the "authenticity wars" so you don't have to but it looks like they aren't won yet.
Anyone who has looked at few period photo books can tell the differences and have an opinion based on facts. If this unit is the only game in town, enjoy and learn what you can. Also if you find that these are the best guys to spend a weekend with and you you aren't ashamed to be seen in public with them (or let them in your house).....enjoy.
