This set just sold on eBay. I suspect that the standing bino and the sitting radio are from the same set, but I can't ID the other figure.

Just curious.

Peter,

All very early K&C aren't they? Sculpting inspired by Airfix.

As per an earlier thread (starter by you, wraith!), the two on the right are definitely inspired. I don't know about the one on the left.

The original Airfix figure had an M1 carbine, but K&C has this replaced with a Colt .45 by the looks.

I had my eyes on that auction as did Louis and Larry and I came back when it was over. Ouch! To my knowledge, that is only the second time these paras have been on ebay. The other time, Chuck Harris had them on and they got no bites. I wound up buying them and it wasn't even close to $519 I can tell you. Would have lived to have had one of these but not at that price, thank you.

Those are three of the four figures from set USP1, the 82nd Airborne Command set. Here is a quote from the book about them:

"Set USP1 consisted of four figures: an officer standing with binoculars to his eyes in his right hand an M1 rifle in his left hand, a sergeant with a pistol in his hand, a tommy gun hanging from a strap, signaling with his other hand, one standing “Tommy gunner” and one sitting radio operator with one leg extended out to the side. The figures from both USP sets wore light green uniforms with the American Flag hand painted on one shoulder and the “All American” Division double “A” patch on the other, and American pattern helmets. They are very “toyish” in overall appearance, having been “inspired” by Airfix figures. The set originally retailed for $51."

That's what I call a nice return on capital:eek:

A New York collector other than the "General" was victorious on this set. Too bad it was not complete but great scale K&C history all the same!

Enjoy,
Beaufighter
