Ok, I continually glean through boxes in the basement warehouse and find stuff that I can't remember who/where/when, etc. Any id help is appreciated, I will put captions where I know some clue!

1. French Foreign Legion Gloss comes in Red Box - I can't remember Manufacturer - NOT Dorset.

2. Hitler and Flagbearer and Podium - all metal

3. Cowboy Singalong!

4. 3 Glossy - Same company

5. Civilians - No Marking

6. Next Photos are all same Company no Marking

7. Same

8. Same

9. Same

Thanks!

Hi, Tom! You always come up with such great puzzles!

The civilians in photos 5 through 9 look familiar to me, but I can't decide if they look like Trophy copies, or of kits from some other manufacturers. I've seen castings that are very similar to the ladies in your photos, for example; I think I have one of the lady with the short cape in photo 6.

As for the 3 figures in photo 5, they remind me of Hopalong Cassidy and Laurel & Hardy figures that were made (and may still be made) by a gentleman in the UK, who sold them through his eBay account. They have the same quality of sculpting and painting. The first figure might be Doctor Watson (a guess) while I think the center figure is the Penguin as portrayed by Danny DeVito in "Batman Returns".

That's about all I've got, off the top of my head. I'll have to look through my references and see what I can find.

Prost!

Thanks Brad,

Ok, I agree on the Civilians, they are castings, but they are well painted, there were several one off UK companies over time that these could be from, they are in that style.

The one lady that has a full base, I just can't remember that Company, but that one is a factory paint. Same with the FFL in Picture 1.

Now interesting, the Hopalong as well as the Dr. Penguin and the heavy set fellow all came out of a storage locker auction that included MANY super high end pieces, so they are not the copies of the ebay guy you are thinking of. This locker had the original K*C West promo pieces, it had K&C Les Mis set, Aeroart King Arthur, I mean, you name a rare set, it had it! Not to say these are not castings, but from the collection they came out of, I know they came from somewhere, also, they are painted quite well and detailed for glossy. Anyhoo, thanks for your help!

I think the British fellow I'm thinking of still sells on eBay, and if I can find his auctions, I'll post some links, to show. I think, though, that his figures were original sculpts that he had done, the Hopalong Cassidy figures (I remember Hoppy on horseback), as well as the Laurel & Hardy figures. I remember thinking, too, that they were very much in the style of the late Charles Hall's figures.

Prost!

Ah, Castings, Inc! I have their catalog, that must be where I saw those civilians.

Their silicon rubber molds are pretty good. Their metal molds aren't as good. I found the detail to be very soft, but I wasn't surprised, because the subjects were copies of other makers' figures (eg, King-White/Reeves, Gebr. Schneider), and they might even have been copies of copies.

Prost!
