Not sure of the original maker, paint is good, similar to a Cavalier casting or Battleline miniatures. Also, can someone tell me what nationality this is supposed to be? I am having a brain cramp. I believe it is World War 2 Era, but not sure of which allied force??

Came in a collection of WW 2 items that included Battleline and Cavalier castings professionally painted.

Thanks!
Tom

British, maybe? The sidecar is mounted on the opposite side from an American motorcycle with a sidecar, isn't it? Or maybe French? The rider's crash helmet suggests the helmets French tankers wore. The markings may be a clue, too, but I'm afraid I don't recognize them. But the rider's machine pistol and equipment suggest British, or someone equipped by the British. I'll call this an edumacated guess.

Prost!

Actually Brad, was wondering if it could be Russian marking? Definitely Allied forces, but I just am at a loss on the colors. Could it be a Russian region, regiment? I know I have seen pictures of Hungarian forces but they tended to use decorative logos/emblems, etc. I just don't know this color combination.

I don't think it depicts a Russian unit, because of the peaked cap on the fellow in the sidecar. He looks too British. It did just occur to me, though, that the Greek national colors were blue and white (inherited when a Wittelsbach prince accepted the Greek throne after they won independence from the Ottomans). I wonder if that blue-white flash is intended as a Greek army insignia. They used British-patterned equipment.

Prost!

Hi Tom

I am sure the side car is mounted as a British one would be as well. And my first thought was Greek Army due to the white over blue flash/divisional markings. As to the maker, not sure but I would guess it was from the early to mid 1990s mainly due to it being glossy and not matte.
I will look at the reference book I have for that period and see if I can find a maker.

I think it looks like a Norton Big 4 outfit, but with telescopic forks. The riders is wearing a Despatch Riders helmet. Certainly British.

I'm not sure that flash is right.

4th Light Horse regiment had that as a patch in the previous war.

Hi Scott,

You are the closest to the correct answer.

This set was made by "Pearce Miniatures" of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Sculptor was Ricky Pearce, son of Doug Pearce. Both the Pearce boys are no longer with us. I have no idea where the moulds are. Doug and Ricky had quite a large output of figures, mostly of Australian themes. I have a number of their pieces in my collection including this one.

Just for the record, they were not related to the late Craig Pearce of Wilson Edward Toy Soldiers. His moulds are in limbo too. Caught up in a family dispute I believe.

Happy Collecting,

Bob

Bob,

Thanks very much, I am familiar with both makers as have both in my collection, but never realized Pearce did this one! Wow, can you confirm the regiment/era for me or the name of the set?

Thanks!
Tom
