Ok, I bet this is an easy one b/c I have seen these before but am drawing a mental blank! Check them out - British Artillery for sure. Very distinctive base and style. I had thought they were from the Tradition of London Squadron range, but I didn't find them on the website. They look that style.

No markings under the base? Are there any pegs showing, where the figures attach to the bases?

Prost!

As a followup-I just had a thought about other brands in the Tradition catalog, and some kits I have in my stash, with round bases. I checked now, and they're Sarum, but the bases are raised, not a single layer like these. So that didn't pan out.

Prost!

Hi Guys,

I was reminded of Yeomanry miniatures but I dont have a catalogue that has photos so I will see what I can find out there.

Dave

I am also wondering is they could be by a company called Valiant or even Chota Sahib? Thoughts?

Valiant and Chota Sahib are both good possibilities, Dave. Valiant is still in business, and their website is here: https://www.veltd.net/ We can browse it and see if we find any matches. I suspect, though, that if these figures were made by Valiant, that the bases are a collector's or hobbyist's modification. As far as I know, Valiant bases are all small, rounded landscape bases, not much more than a rough oval.

I don't have any specific references for Chota Sahib, except for things like articles in the old figure magazines, or pictures and mentions in various books. Hopefully someone who has collected and painted the range may be able to say better.

If we still think about the entire Tradition catalog, there's also the Squadron range. Though, I think those figures are marked with "SQUADRON" inscribed under the bases. I have their 54mm George Washington kit figure and that's how it's marked.

Prost!

Hi Brad,

The sculpting and painting style really remind me of Valiant. I think its the bases of the figures that will lead us to who made them since they are so unique with the cobble stone look.

Hi Guys,
good suggestions, I don't think they are Valiant, every other casting I have by them is marked on the base. As to Squadron, similar, but yes Brad, no markings on base either unfortunately!

I suspect that the bases are not original to those figures, but were added when they were painted.

Prost!
