So, we do a lot of talking on here about what range we want, what figures we want, where we think manufactures should produce, how we think they should operate, and what we think figures should cost. In the end, these are suggestions- they don't always have a huge impact.
Now, I know we have all fantasied at one time or another about starting our own company- whether it be a manufacturer, scenic company, or retailer. Here is a space where you can share your ideal company- or tell about your adventure of actually starting your own company, and how that went for you and evolved. It goes without saying that one should not copy another's idea, make millions, and not share ({sm4}).

Here is mine:
"Wounded Eagle Miniatures" or "L'Aigle Blessé"
Manufacturer with retail locations in US (PA or VA), UK, and France
Specializes in Napoleonic, especially vehicles, odd regiments, the Peninsular War, and naval
Offers wide range of scenics, including mostly fortifications and ships
Also makes WWI, Sudan, and mini series of such things as Obdurman and the Boer War
Carries other manufacturers' ranges which compliment releases
Figures made in cheaper location then China (Bangladesh?)
Try to keep prices $25-30 for foot, $60-75 for mounted by minimizing labor and material costs, maximizing efficiency in production sizes

If I were in charge, and were ridiculously rich so I could afford to do it . . . I would create a trust to provide interest free loans, computer/tech support, benefits and pensions to all the little mom and pop cottage manufacturers and brick and mortar Toy Soldier Stores I love so much which so often go out of business, like Heco Tinplate Models, CJB Miniatures, Toy Army Workshop and Yeomanry Miniatures (cottage makers) and Classic Toys, The Toy Soldier Gallery, the Old Toy Soldier Home or MLK Models (brick and mortar shops).

Very few companies who start that small become a big success like King & Country (family owned operation which grew into a big time manufacturer) or King & Country, UK (major walk in shop/distributor), and I love the diversity of different artist's interpretations of the hobby. Additionally, having taken my son Alec to three Toy Soldier Stores in one day in Gettysburg, it reminded me of how much I loved being able to visit Classic Toys on Sullivan Street in Greenwich Village, or the Toy Soldier Gallery outside the gates of West Point.

If I was in a position to help ensure they were around for another generation to enjoy and get hooked on the hobby, I would love to do so.:smile2:
