Hurricane Ike gave my house on Galveston Island a 2 to 3 foot soaking on the inside Saturday.

I evacuated Thursday, a few days before landfall, to a friends house and I feel fortunate that I have a dry place to stay.

I got onto the Island for a couple of hours Tuesday, after the storm and surveyed my damage.

I was one of the lucky ones. I still have a roof and the upstairs didn't flood.

It's funny, but one of the main things I was worried about was my diorama.

When I opened my front door and stepped through the water, the first thing I looked for was my soldiers.

They survived the battle intact and are still standing where I left them. My diorama is dry and safe.

My house, that's another story.

Anyone who watched the news this week knows what I'm talking about.

I don't think I'll be posting for a while, I don't even think I'll be playing soldier for a while.

When the City of Galveston allows me to return to my home, and I get my life and house back in order, you will see me again, but for right now, I'm not going to be posting for a while.

Take care all, "I'll be back".

Michael

Thanks Mike for letting us know how things have gone at your end and it's nice to know you haven't loss your home as well as your diorama that you work so hard to build. Here's hoping you'll be able to get things done ASAP and back to playing again you'll be missed. Take care and be sure to keep in touch...Joe

Thank goodness you and your family are well, everything else can be replaced. Hope your repairs go well.

Yo Michael, I know things are bad, but always try and look on the bright side of life, the house is still there, all the family is safe thank God. A few years back on Millennium Eve I was Taxi Driver and set to clean up with the fares we had booked that night. Parks up at 3am left it over the road for safety off the main road. Got a rude awakening at 10am by the police, a whole chimney stack had collapased on top of my car, and smashed it to pieces, so no car no work. My Wife said how come you havn't freaked out about your car, your just so cool about it. My Reply I parked that up at 3am, what if the chimney had come down then, I would be dead. Can always get another car. Good luck Michael hope you can sort it.
Bernard. :D
