I'm sure most everyone is aware... (1 Viewer)

I should bite my tongue on this but... it's always the same, the people who think there smarter or more pure. there the same people who think the gov't should run everything because it just isn't fair that someone gets more than someone else, that the free enterprise system is a bunch of crooks, that freedom should be regulated so that no one gets too much irregardless of the human condition or circumstance, really very sad to me.
What I do have a problem with is trading for profit on the goodness of people within the community that is treefrog, some will go so far as to practically beg for a cheap price on an item from the members and you'll see it show up eventually on ebay at hugely inflated numbers. to me that's wrong, the free market is fun to wheel and deal in. We here support one another for the enjoyment of the members and friends within this small family of like minded individuals and for me it's strictly taboo to profit from that goodwill.
I regularly buy and sell as the winds that are my life dictate my finances, when times are hard I sell, when times are good I buy more. I support the hobby and yes the hobby has helped me when I have struggled.

If the person sold the item for what he was asking...then the seller is happy and the buyer is happy...the only person that gets unhappy is the onlooker who saw it purchased here and resold elsewhere! How about classified ad version A) sell your item with small print that states "not to be resold for profit"...or version B) sell your item and state "do what you want with it"...would that make the onlookers feel better? I doubt it! It surely isn't the people doing transactions that have the problem...For months now I have been buying from numerous people here on the forum...and not twisting anybodys arm or begging for a lower price. And the relationships are strong and continual...though let someone else on the outside of the transaction know you bought something from someone here and resold it elsewhere and you could be in for a big lecture. Oddly how the original thread started out as "Im in love with a whole new series now, where does this end"

"My Views" regarding "collectors vs. speculators" is well known on this forum so I will not bother to comment in detail...:D:D..

I do not buy to sell....I am afraid to sell just one .....ever heard of the domino effect.....:D:D...seriusly I have but to much time and money to let even one piece go!!!!!! If I can find a casket big enough .........keep it silly.....

Markey,

as someone that has sold (myself) my entire K&C collection, for my own personal reasons I got alot of feedback from the guys on the forum, and the thing is the collectors of K&C are a very tight nit group, and when it sounds like you are out to wheel and deal this for that to make money it rubs people the wrong way, even if it's to help finance your collection it's just some things you need to keep to yourself, no need to piss anyone off by telling everyone your looking to sell set a for a great profit cut.

Glad to see that you are a collector of the retired pieces, they are always my favorite, and you will figure out in time which way you will want to go with your collection, buy them all if you can afford it!!! this hobby is the best hobby I have ever been involved in, whatever I'm collecting, and I'm sure you'll agree just by the title of this thread, always a good thing to have new people collecting as well, as well as new members on the forum...Sammy

I subscribe to the "greater fool" theory. Goes something like this. Its starts out with a fool paying way too much at a store for little polystone toys that represent man's greatest failure....war. Then that fool decides to sell his toy on the secondary market because he's hoping there is a greater fool out there willing to pay more than he did for his original purchase. Then that greater fool comes along and does pay more for that item than its original price. Then another even greater fool pays even more....and so it goes. I don't judge it or question peoples motives. Just accept that there are lots of fools out there who participate in this behaviour. As long as the greater fool exists out there fools will continue to bid up our hobby.....like it or not.
I for one enjoy this hobby so I am thankful there are so many other fools out there like me who not only participate in the hobby but also use this forum to share ideas and their collections. Long live the insane asylum for us fools.....THE TREEFROGGERS. ;):p:)

There is very little difference between insane and very very insane.

markeytmaker,at no time have i understood your real motives for being in this hobby ,i have only used "understand"once in my posts on this thread and i think you have misunderstood the sentence where the word was placed.I could continue this thread forever, but i think we have covered most of the points,be comforted that most people on this forum have your number and know your real motives for being in this hobby, some are too long in the tooth to get involved in issues such as this but they do have their private views.AS i have said before i genuinely wish you good fortune and wealth in your pursuit of happiness,my comfort will be in the knowledge that we wont have any "dealings" within this hobby, ken

You have issues! So you say at no time have you understood my real motives for bieng in this hobby...yet everyone has my number and all of a sudden in the same post of "not understanding my real motives" here...you end it with most people here have "knowledge of my real motives"...yet you don't!...LOL!

Well I have no opinion on any of this but this thread evokes a certain line from Macbeth for me:

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

So let's here it for sound and fury.:D Boy you gotta love ole Will Shakespear.

Dear MarkeytMaker":
Ah, so "where does it end?" It will end when you run out of display space or out of money, ha, ha.
Regards, "Iron Brigade" 3/13/2010

Markey, You ask where does it end???....In the grave of course....Then someone will sell those items or keep them for a time.....Isn't that something to ponder;)
