$16.00 US. Why Red? Some Dragoons were in red but the Presido Lancers were in Blue. Several have separate lances. Jackets are too baggy like blouses

12 Horses in Three Poses

12 Individual Poses

Several are broken in the box. Lances, carbine barrels, swords and scabbards are too brittle.

Compare to the repro-Marx lancers.

The latest Imex figures, Mexicans, Rev-War artillery, and Confederates are disappointing in detail, authenticity, and their brittle plastic.

Thanks for the reveiw Scott! I thought about picking some of these up to check them out, seemed like a good deal for the amount of figures but I guess you get what you pay for.:(
I still might pick some up and try a few conversions with them?

I think 12 figures in 12 poses with 12 horses for $16.00 is a good deal, while they aren't the greatest figures ever made, they sure aren't the worst either. I don't care for the red color or the brittle plastic, but they are serviceable.

The basic figures with repaired scabbards, swords, lances etc have lots of possibilities. A swop of heads gets you some fair to middlin' Napoleonics. The 12 Horses are worth the price. I'm mounting some HaT dragoons in white plastic on the horses as Austrians.

It is a good deal. A couple of dealers are advertising them that way.:)

Hi Scott

the horses look quite striking, so probably worth aquiring them and use for other figures to mount onto.

This hard plastic breaks easily in the box - suppose its ok if the paint adheres better than with polythene figures.

When you guys say that it's brittle plastic, does it appear to be styrene, like most injection-molded models are made of?

I can see being disappointed, if you don't paint or kit-bash/convert, but a few snapped-off weapons probably won't deter the modelers among us from buying them. We'd probably replace things like lances or standard poles with wire, in any case.

I agree, $16 is pretty decent, for the count of items in the box.

Prost!

ClassicToy Soldier's version of the Lancers are studier, but the weapons are too flexible to stay straight. I've replaced them with 1/16" plastic rods and printed penons. At 12.95 USD for the figures+ another 14.95 for horses..that's expensive for 12 of the CTS horsemen. If you go with the Marx repros, you only get one rider with a lance per set.

I wouldn't hold the IMEX lancers up at historically correct as is, and you can't "play" with them as is.The IMEX poses have more animation and again with the 12 poses, more adaptability for dioramas and conversions! Mine might become Franco_Prussian War.

I have to say I share the general disappointment - the Imex figures have little to commend them, least of all the horses. The head on the horses is strangely elongated and too narrow, and the poses are awkward when you see them 'in the flesh', IMHO. If you want horses to mount other figures on, go for the ones the mounted Mexican Bandits from Weston Toy Soldiers - they are superb!

I have an order in for some of the Lancers and also for the Weston bandits. Looking forward to comparing them upon receipt. Either way, I will use them in my dioramas.

Louis,

I have the dismounted Weston Bandits and I've seen the mounted Weston Bandits. Very good but expensive and more like the movies than "reality." Looks like fun to paint.

You might have fun with the lancers if you can deal with the brittle swords and lances.

CTS has another version of the lancers where the weapons are a sturdier plastic and they are actually ring hand type figures, the weapons are separate. This should eliminate the noodles for weapons.

I have the Weston mounted Banditos, I like them much better then the foot figures, nice poses and facial expressions, a couple of the weapons still look a little funky bot overall much better, I'd recommend them.

The plastic used on the Imex foot and mounted figures reminds me of the plastic used on the old Mongram GI's, if it comes bent and you try and straighten the weapon it snaps, in more modern terms it reminds me of the plastic used by Emhar.
