Imperial figures you wish you saw? (1 Viewer)

I'm not dying for David to create a bunch of new sets every year, but it sure would be nice to see 2-3 a year. I would think he could do that and still keep pace with filling orders on current sets while trimming back on a few more of the older sets. I think he does have molds for some new sets. When things settle down, we might consider making a pitch for a new set or two in 2010. I'd personally pay a higher price for new sets, but understand that might not work for other collectors.

I have been watching ebay for several years as well and maybe we are seeing two different ebays, in effect. I have no idea whether there is a difference between what you are seeing on an international ebay, if there is such a thing.

That said, the typical 6 figure Imperial set has been selling for an average of less that $100 US from my data for all military sets.
Naps generally sell higher, but only just. The highest prices are still being paid for 6 figure Civil War sets and, in particular, the cavalry sets and wagon/artillery sets from that series.
Still, I see lots of 6 figure Imperial sets passing through ebay again and again with no takers on $150 minimum bids or even buy-it-now's.

Anyway, the way I have always understood it from talking to David Cowe, the sculpting is the part that he likes best. As an artist, he must be frustrated somewhat by the mundane repetition of cranking out the same sets over and over.

Alas, I suspect that all of this discussion will be rendered moot by the realities of the toy soldier market and the lack of a "next generation" of Cowes intent on following David and Kaye's legacy. (Oh to be born again in New Zealand:rolleyes:)

Everyone deserves, but surprisingly few ever get to enjoy a restful retirement from a lifetime of work. I wish nothing but the best for the Cowes and hope that they will do what makes them happy and healthy.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed and send the Cowes our warmest vibes and best wishes for a great and healthy new year.

I,m a little loath to buy Imperial on ebay , I had a terrible
run of getting damaged figures for a while.
As much as I love Imperial their packaging is not the best for
repacking figures imo and unless the seller takes real care the
chance of damage is pretty high.

Any way Guys, all the best for christmas and the new year .
[our turn to host for my family 9 adults and 13 kids so it should be a nice quite day ]
cheers Rob
