Imperial Japanese Navy Carrier Deck Base Question (4 Viewers)

I have only been collecting for a couple of years and have always been curious about the JJD’s Japanese carrier deck base. The USS Bunker Hill was a popular range. A Japanese Navy range seems like it would have complemented it. I would have thought it would have sold as well, if not better than, the Bunker Hill range.

What happened? Why was it retired without planes and figures? Thanks in advance.
