Some are clearly Airfix knock-offs.

In the photo in the blog the three figures to the left of the photo are Matchbox poses, the two to the right are Airfix.

The blogger already checked my main source, O'Brien's "Collecting Toy Soldiers". The next thing I would check is Stadinger's blog, http://www.stadsstuff.com/ He's a pretty good authority on plastic figures. And you can search his site. I just ran one now, using "imperial" as the keyword, and it returned an article about a set of cowboys and Indians made by an Imperial Toy Company in LA, copyrighted 1974. That's probably the maker of the soldiers shown in the blog.
