Improved packaging:
What a big improvement this is .
The pictures on the boxes of the content are perfect and a great help
it makes the box more attractive
it shows you immediately what's inside the box .
it avoids having to open all the boxes when you are looking for a specific figure .
it gives you an overview of your collection, not having to worry anymore about possible double purchases.

What do you think ?

I think this is a very good move .
two years ago I sold a large part of the collection and had to search a long time for the right boxes.:salute::

good idea...
wonder if that would impact the cost of everything by having the photo of the product on each box...
but that would certainly help identifying what goes in what box...

but more so...
a cheaper easier fix...
I have always wanted the code imprinted on the bottom of the base of each single figure...
I think that would be a relatively cheap improvement that would really help me sort out my collection...

Conte used to do this years ago...
I thought it was innovative and very helpful...
I think First Legion also did this...

Agree on the packaging, pictures are great to have, I too struggled with reconising which figure is which, but decide to get some sticky labels [liberated them from work] and wrote down figure number, cut it out and stuck it on base. Plus i am really 'Geeky' over my stored boxes and i have stored only the same range sets in the same larger boxes, boxes are 21 Inchs square and always get them from work as they would be thrown away anyway, i have about 140 with my TS sets empty and some full boxes in them, that way they stack neatly and compack in the attic, plus even full boxes with sets in are not too heavy to move. So i have,
BotB Germans, BotB British and BotB American boxes
or
D Day USA, D Day Britsh, D Day French and WS Germans or WH Germans all in different boxes.
Plane boxes i struggle with and am always seeking larger storage boxes, real first world problem.

Number stamp on base is also a great idea, think W Britains do it, but would add to cost as means extra leg in the process and not add any moneytary value for the manufacturer.

Could only get worse with K & C releasing alternative versions of past figures.

really kind of a one step process...done only one time on the master sent to the factory before casting....

done on the master and when cast...it's on every base...sounds simple to me...

See where you are coming from, you are assuming the base is part of the cast figure, many figures the base is not part of the cast figure, the figure is cast and joined to the base after painting, base is cast seperate, have noticed that some K & C figures [as with other manufacturers] that different figures have the same base, reconised through grass and/or rock pattern on base.

Depends on numbers as well, do not know how many of each individual figure are cast by K & C but would add costs if you could not produce thousands of bases at a time from a few masters, whereas with numbers on the base the master would have to be changed and/or disgarded more often.

How would your idea work with the alternative releases of previous figures? If orginal cast is with base then a new master and mould will be needed.

The other issue is that K & C figures have the K & C logo on the base, which pretty much covers the base and there is no room for the individual number! Another change, possibly a smaller logo, a small change some could say, but added cost, plus bases are not the same size so what happens there, the K & C logo on the bottom is great brand awareness and endorsement, someone picking it up and wondering who makes the figure only have to look at the base.

I am for the idea, numbers for identification would be great for the collector, but would add cost for the manufacturer. Things always sound simple, but usually are not, same as when you are asked to do something [by wife, boss, workmate, neighbour] and they tell you it will not take long as 'only a five minute job', it ends up taking hours to do.

Think Andy is one of the most knowledgeable people on the planet about Toy Soldiers and he has probably thought of it and discounted for good reason. Pictures on the boxes is probably a better option, cheaper and simplier to administer.

Really useful and time saving !

Agree, gets over any language issues and helps the dealer to be able to find the boxes after the figure has been purchased, many of us have bought figures from dealers/shops which are on display and then waited while the dealer hunts the box to put the figure in. Having to reading the numbers/figures on the box to make sure it is the correct box.

okay...even if the base is cast separately...you still only stamp the master base and make the same amount as figures cast...which I would assume is what they do anyway...don't see that as an expensive issue...one stamp on the master...then cast 250-500 etc...to match the amount of figures ordered...all I'm talking about is stamping one base...how expensive could that be? Hardly labor intensive...

I would guess that rarely is the same base used for every figure cast...almost all figures have different foot positions...

the new alternative figures of previous releases have different codes...when a company issues a repaint...they use a new code...they don't use the same code as the original paint job...it gets a new code...

the stamp could go right over the engraved code...is that a big deal?

don't understand why you think engraving a few numeric/alpha characters is such a costly thing...seems relatively simple and VERY CHEAP...

now if you want to compare prices...getting a custom pictured box with the actual picture of the figures on it has got to be way, way, way more expensive than stamping a base...are you really suggesting that making a personalized picture box that can only be used with that set is actually cheaper than simply stamping the bottom...

there may be other reasons why manufacturers won't stamp the bottom...but I doubt any of them are the reasons you suggested...

you're making stamping the bottom as some costly procedure...how big a deal is it to stamp a base...you only have to do it on the master...couldn't take but a few minutes...
