Hey I wanted to ask the Jenkins Collectors here a few questions ?

1) In your opinion what is the hardest JJD Set to find ?

2) What is the newest release that can't be found now ?

3) Which Set do you want the most - but missed out on when it was released ?

4) What is your favorite Set and how many extras do you own ?

5) What new set do you think will be the sleeper next "hard to find" set - that collectors a year from wished they had ?

OK - how about those five questions - I will give my answers a little later to keep the thread going. But, it will be interesting to hear from bth Old and New JJD Collectors.

I was fortunate - because I was an early supporter and collector of JJD - so I have been able to get everything I wanted - but, I am interested in what others had missed or wish they had more ?

Hello,
Puzzling questions as there are too much lovely sets.
1) I answer BM03.
2) The blockhouse
3) BM02 et 03
4) I like FM01 and BMO6. I have only one of each
5) I think it will be the BAL002.
It would be more accurate to ask were are the sets I dislike. I didn't bought the QB of the 28th because I saw some reliefs in the back which seem to me not natural.
Nice day to everybody
Thierry

Neat thread, Ron. 1- have never seen BM-03 offered anywhere. 2- don't know. 3- got in late to JJD and missed BM-01 thru BM-03 and FM-1. Would love to have them but they have moved beyond my price range. 4- favorites are the Jacobites and 5- miss the Jacobites and you'll be sorry. JMHO. -- lancer

1) In your opinion what is the hardest JJD Set to find ? BM 3

2) What is the newest release that can't be found now ? Blockhouse

3) Which Set do you want the most - but missed out on when it was released ? None, fortunate in this case.

4) What is your favorite Set and how many extras do you own ? No extras, just picked what I wanted

5) What new set do you think will be the sleeper next "hard to find" set - that collectors a year from wished they had ? Whaleboats or the recent limber set.

Bonus question - Will the Monag series retain its value??

Sounds like Ron is planing his shopping list for his future ebay stock????:p

Hey - I am just having a friendly conversation here.

As for Ebay - there has to be a BUYER for every successful sale ! ;)

Since Fishead and Hussar are being a little snippy tonight - I will go ahead and turn the conversation back to the questions and give you my answers.

1) I personally believe that BM-01 is the hardest set to find - with FM-01 as a close second. Anytime these sets appear on Ebay - they go right through the roof ! Since they are the First and they are Shooting Figures in the British and French series - I think we all can understand why.

2) In the hardest newest release to be found question - I had in mind the VM-02 Virginia Militia Firing Set - but, now it sounds like that British Limber and 6 lb Cannon Set - BAL-02 - has also made the grade !

3) What Set did you missed out and wish you had ? Well like Tom - I have been fortunate to have started collecting John Jenkins figures before they took off and became hard to find. So I have all the early sets that I have wanted. If there was one set I wish I had bought another one of - it would be BM-06 - British Grenadiers Wounded - it is a great set and it would be cool to have another one in my diorama.

4) My favorite would be the Death of Wolfe Set - QB-02 - I don't even collect the Plains of Abraham Range - but, that set is so COOL  - as you have seen - it is in my BM diorama. I probally should pick up another one of those - it is at 750 release which is good for a come back purchase !

5) When I wrote this question - I had BAL-02 - the British Limber Set in mind. But, now it has done better than I even had thought ! - So I guess my next pick would be the Whaleboat - WHRR=-01 and the Jetty Set - WHRR-02 - I don't collect those Ranger releases - very nice - but I limit myself. Those two Whaleboat releases in a year from now will be the "Oh, I should Have Gotten That One" Set. IMHO. :)

OK - well there is my thoughts for everyone - still interested in hearing what others think about Jenkins figures - (not really interested in anymore personal insults )

So let hear what you guys think?

Your last statement is so true, I had a buddy who used to buy and sell cars for fun, he always had a new flashy car for weeks, then another, so on. Often, I wondered, who would buy some of the hunks of junk, He once said what is now a line that has stuck with me forever and I think it applies to ebay, although I will clean it up and make it PG rated......"There is a "rear end" for every seat".......

I have always found that to be true, for every seller, there is a willing buyer.

I really like the JJ items myself, but I have purchased 0.

Just can't bring myself to embark on any additional product lines!

I do have a few Conte buildings, and a few nice Figarti sets and a couple

dozen Russian Federation Figures but a new line.........no way!

I just don't know how some of you guys do it?

Oh and it has nothing to do with the second SSR I'm thinking about.

Ron,

All I can say is if they are picking on you they are leaving me alone. ;)

To your questions:

1) In your opinion what is the hardest JJD Set to find ? Would have to be FM-01, BM-03 & BM-06 these are impossible to find these days even for big $$$$$, you can still find a BM-01 & 02 and the other FM's around.

2) What is the newest release that can't be found now ? Ron I would have to agree with your picks VM-02's disappeared real fast and BAL-02 is the next fast disappearing set.

3) Which Set do you want the most - but missed out on when it was released ? Would have to be BM-03 & BM-06.

4) What is your favorite Set and how many extras do you own ? I very much like the QHL sets & number of extras LOTS.;) WHRR-01 and BAL-02 would be my next favourites.

5) What new set do you think will be the sleeper next "hard to find" set - that collectors a year from wished they had ? Assuming no early retirements as per the past two months, I would say the QHL's and the first two sets of Highlanders JR-01 & 02

BM-01

BM-06

3) Which Set do you want the most - but missed out on when it was released ?
BM-01

4) What is your favorite Set and how many extras do you own ?

Death of Wolfe. I only buy one of each set.

5) What new set do you think will be the sleeper next "hard to find" set - that collectors a year from wished they had ?

Given the early retirement of Braddock - that means less than 350 were made. The Whaleboat will be a close second and maybe a dark horse set like QR-01.

Ron,

The year of release is on the bottom of the bases of each figure. The early BM releases were 2006 as Combat stated.

1. I would say BM-03 is the hardest to find.

2. The British artillery limber seems to be disappearing fast.

3. That would be BM-03.

4. My favorite set is BM-06. I only have 1 set.

5. I believe it will be the British artillery limber set.

Thanks Darrell and Combat - I will have to check that out !

It is interesting how well this Company has taken off in just THREE YEARS !

JJD - from what I remember sat on the shelf for a about 10 months without much notice - then in 2007 - we all started to talk about them on this forum. Interesting on the snowball effect with that one ! ;)
