I get so frutrated with Ebay, but let,s be honest, it is really the only game in town when it comes to selling off parts of ones collection.
I can,t take my years old K&C set to my bank and cash it in. Yes I guess I could attend a few shows scattered across the country, but look at that expense.
I could advertise here on TF,s, but that is a very limited exposure.
I am in no way sticking up for Ebay, but if it were that bad no one would use it.

well, i've filed the disputes. we'll see what happens.

buyers shouldn't be able to leave a negative at all after a dispute has been opened. not even if they finally pay.

Yes. more and more everyday. It's like pulling teeth to get paid. My favorite is after the auctions over you get the email demanding free shipping. Or I'm having issues with my PayPal account. I have been using PayPal for at least 14 years. I process hundreds of thousands of dollars through my account every year and never had a problem. 99.99 % of the people that say they have a issue with PayPal its in their heads. The problem is they have no money in there accounts. If they just told me that I could wait, but don't make up stories. I clearly state that payment is due 48 hours after the auctions conclusion. Its so easy to understand. I finally got paid for 18 different items form one bidder over three weeks after the auctions were done. I only got paid because I opened non-paying bidder complaints. I also state payment by PayPal only. Never fails you get the where do I send my money order email ! Thank god I don't make a living on eBay ! After my collection is thinned down I won't be listing anything again. I can't understand why the management at eBay makes it so difficult for sellers. Fees are out of control, you can't leave feedback for all of the deadbeats, anyone can claim they didn't receive your item, doesn't matter if you have delivery confirmation they don't care you have to eat it. Maybe someday they will figure out that without sellers you can't have buyers.

I agree with almost everything you have stated above except for the PayPal statements. I had a recent issue with them regarding transferring funds from my "play money" account to PayPal. In short, my money was tied up for a total of six days with four of those working days-this all going beyond the normal working time frame. Only the second time I have had an issue but it was a "real" one which I had to address with them over the phone. In regards to receiving payments, I always state within eBay rules & regulations-that being seven days which is also the time frame/cut off for filing the MIA payment complaint. eBay already sends the auto-generated payment reminders so I do not worry. If Day seven hits, then I file the complaint which has only happened ten or so times since my joining back in 1998. All the same, a real unfortunate waste of time. I am neutral to eBay but in their defense, they are the best venue out there with an incredible world-wide base.

well, I'm waiting to close out these unpaid disputes but now I have a buyer trying to shake me down for 50% refund of two old toy tanks.

the treads are dry so the tanks won't "move forward". thing is, I described the treads as dry. but... to keep my top rated seller status and the continued 20% discount, I have to offer 14 day returns. so I'm stuck with this one. have to take it on the chin if he decides to return them.

if I have to process one or two more returns or if I lose my top rated seller status, I am going back to no returns. It all comes down to what this return policy might cost me. if it comes out to more than the 20% discount I receive, then I'm done with it.

this is just unreal. I have never dealt with people like this in this quantity on eBay.

So far, this top rated seller status has "saved" me several hundred. Now it is costing me about $85. But I'll likely be able to resell these items for the same or similar price. So we'll see. But it does add hassle. Returns based on "item not as described" - I've had two or three of those in nearly 15 years. We'll see what happens now.

eBay keeps raising its fees so I need to do what I can within reason to keep them as low as possible. If I have to jump through a few hoops, I can do that. If they light those hoops on fire, they can go $crew themselves.

Well said. I had a big problem with eBay in the UK in late July 2011 relative to over $800 USD auction sales of 11 K&C sets spanning 6 auctions the end of April 2011 relative to 3 of the 6 auctions having some damage per the buyer. I filed a USPS Insurance claim for the buyer and when payment ($391) in full payment of buyer's claims was made to me by USPS I passed it on on to the buyer in England via PayPal. But eBay in UK messed up 1 of 3 Problem Resolution Claims & tried to get money from me I did not owe. I got no help from eBay in USA as eBay in the UK is a separate entitly! I almost terminated my eBay account, but just ended up making it inactive until just recently. Because of the just noted bad situation I will only list for USA buyers only. In any case, eBay can still be a good market place for toy soldiers, etc.
