Ok fellow sleuths, have 2 sets I can't id. What I know is that they are 1980s or prior era. I first thought Kingcast, but they have a hinged arm and no base markings. They are in that style. Thanks in advance:

I think they may be Prestana figures I may have spelled the name incorrectly but The Baron will likely know.

Dave,
good suggestion, I completely forgot about Professor Harold Pestana! However, I have a number of his sets and these are more "crisp" in painting than his style. They look a lot like Kingcast quality painting, but the I need to dig out some of those sets b/c the hinged arm is bugging me.

Thanks!
Tom

There is another maker that I will look up because the painting is excellent on those figures. I will let you know what I find.

Ok I think they were made by a gent named Mike Ferguson. There are a bunch on ebay right now and look to be the same style as these and even the same set, 101st Bombay Grenadiers I cant figure out how to share link here but if you search for Indian Army in Toy Soldiers it will be right there...

Dave,
I think you may have it and it makes sense from where these came from, I had again forgot about Mike, but the style is definitely the same - very close to an early "Trophy" style.

Thanks again!

If they were made by Mike, I think I may have images of them in some of my Armchair General catalogs. They sold some of his figures, I think, though I only recall his Christmas sets, soldiers decorating a tree, etc. I'm having a memory failure, trying to remember if he traded as "Soldier Center" or "Soldiers Unlimited". Richard O'Brien included Mike in his list of contemporary makers, in the first two editions of "Collecting Toy Soldiers".

Along with producing his own original figures, Mike was an agent for Stadden/Tradition, and Rose Miniatures.

I know that Mike's not casting or painting anymore these days. He retired from doing shows a couple of years ago, and sold his own collection as he and his wife moved into a retirement community.

Prost!

Hi guys

The style is just beautiful! I especially love the detail of the uniforms. I dont have any of his set right now but may have to change that soon..
