Here the Indian Cavalry Officer and his wife, along with a British Officer and his wife, welcome The Prince of Wales on his State Visit to India in 1875. The Prince is joined in the Howdah by the Maharajah of Jaipur

THE RAJ

set# PW1 - PRINCE OF WALES STATE ELEPHANT



I was very lucky to find this set which is one of the first 6 produced, you can tell this from the design of the Fans the Attendants are waving. The first 6 sets had the fans made of tin, they were hand stamped into shape before painting. Once a demand was seen for the set a new, easier to produce fan was added, this was a flat cast version. I had only seen the flat style fans previously.
