Indifference ? (1 Viewer)

Apparently a parcel filled with K&C's new releases has arrived in Guildford, and the new owner has put them to very good use ..... nicely done as always, Steve.

GREAT layout and theme Steve-as always. I really like the civilian releases that are coming out to support this line.

Yes the paint is still wet on these and not due to the paddy fields. The whole aspect appears realistic, so well done. Robin.

I was just thinking as I set the Water Buffalos up for this, remembering reading about a patrols that had been hit and the indifference of nearby Vietnamese to the wounded that were there to protect them, not even looking up from their fields and that inspired me to use the Marines in the scene.

Steve

Wow you certainly made quick work of those Water Buffalos. As the others have already stated--- great scene Steve!! I couldn't agree more!

Always look forward to logging into the forum each day and seeing your dio's.

I think it’s a bit naive to say that US forces were there to protect the Vietnamese population.

if they appeared ‘indifferent’, it is because they were invaded, and resented not being to live their lives peacefully.

There are 2 sides to every story...

Appreciate the comment Bridport, Though to the Marines and GI's on the ground when the US first went to Vietnam, had been told they were going there to help protect the people from the communists. Which is what I'm trying to portray in my little scene.
Most of the rural people were more concerned with scratching an existence rather than ideologies and for those who did since the country's recent Colonial power had exploited the people ruthlessly there was a yearning for independence and desire to be rid of foreigners controlling their lives and supporting despots like Diem and his cronies a few years earlier and then ineffectual and corrupt government more concerned with feathering their own beds than actually inspiring the people, with the US getting deeper and deeper into this mire !

But yes, there are different sides to every story including the people outside looking in !
