Updating my profile I noticed that I've managed to accumulate 18 Infraction Points. All of them completely deserved, no doubt, but what do they mean..?? Do I get a prize when I hit 50 of them..?? Do they count towards a discount on my next TF order..?? Am I doomed to have them forevermore on my profile for the entire world to note what a bad boy I am..??
Look forward to our esteemed moderator(s) response(s).

Cheers

Re: Infraction Points

Please see answers in bold.

Do I get a prize when I hit 50 of them..?? Not jolly likely:)
Do they count towards a discount on my next TF order..?? Don't think so.
Am I doomed to have them forevermore on my profile for the entire world to note what a bad boy I am? Need to kick this one upstairs to my superior and our Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

Regards,

Re: Infraction Points

Och, I'm sure she'll get rid of them seeing as I've been such a good boy recently....comparatively speaking....

Rgds, etc.

I've forwarded the question to Shannon.

Who was Peck's bad boy? I've borrowed this answer from the internet:
Peck's Bad Boy was the fictional star of newspaper stories and books created by George W. Peck in the late 1800s. Hennery (or Henry) Peck was a mischievous lad who loved to play sneaky pranks on others, especially his father, for the sheer pleasure of creating mayhem. The stories were a huge hit in their era, and the name Peck's Bad Boy became a popular term for any incorrigible rule-breaker. George Peck collected his stories into several books, most notably Peck's Bad Boy and His Pa (1883). :)

:D:D:D

Interesting topic--are infraction points something the forum tracks (eg, for violating one of the agreed-upon rules), and if so, can we see them in our profiles?

Prosit!
Brad

Shannon is going to look into it. I believe you can see your own infractions but only moderators can see them, not other members.

Not other members..??
But.....but - these are our battle scars won in honourable discussion and friendly debate with our fellow cyber-warriors..!!
I demand that my "mentions in dispatches" be released for the hoi-poloi to ponder.

Puh-leeze!

It's one thing to refute an argument, in which someone has made an objective point, which can be proven or disproven based on facts.

It is quite another to respond to a subjective observation, such as an opinion about figures someone would like to see a major manufacturer produce, with what is little better than, "You're a doodie-head, your requests are stupid and put us to sleep, stop making them". That is hardly cause to celebrate the poster as if he were some man-of-the-people David taking on a censurious Goliath, fighting for freedom of speech, when he's actually come close to an ad hominem attack on the first poster, no matter how appropriate many members of the forum may find the ad hominem attack.

Not every guy who robs a bank is Robin Hood.

I must make the point again, that if we violate the forum rules to which we agreed when we created our user accounts, it is not cause for celebration.

Prosit!

I was only joking Brad, the wanted poster was a not meant to be taken at all seriously.

I saw the wanted poster as a joke and thought it was pretty funny so I thought Brad's comment was a little sever. I think we've all probably violated some rules in our lives, not just this Forum, and hopefully we don't do it again;) This Forum, just as any organization, is made up of different personalities -- I call them characters -- and we have our share here, myself included. That's what makes this place great. We all have our quirky personalities. That, hopefully, will not change.

Thank you Brad,it was only meant to lighten the mood a little.:)

Infraction points; wow how did you manage to get 18? What are these and how do you get them anyway?:D Are they given for knowing violations after warning or just assessed for every misspoken statement? Who gives them and what are your appeal rights? Are you presumed innocent or quilty?
Maybe I should real those rules more closely.:D
I thought the wanted poster was hilarious by the way.;)

Understood. That's the drawback to e-formats compared to live speech, you can't pick up the tone sometimes. Your satire was pretty close to some postings some have made, that they've meant.

I'm with Sptfrnd, too, I'm curious to know more about infraction points. Brad had responded earlier to indicate that we can probably see our own, and the moderators can see everyone's. I didn't see any area for them in of the tabs in my profile; I wonder if the page is configured to show them if you have any, but to suppress showing that field, if you don't.

Prost!
