The Wisconsin State Veteran's Museum has a life-sized diorama of the 2nd Wisconsin (Iron Brigade of the American Civil War) in the Cornfield at Antietam, Maryland. Britain's is going to do a series of figures, some based on this diorama and others of Wisconsin battle flags to raise money for the restoration of Wisconsin regimental flags. The Iron Brigade consisted of the 2nd, 6th, 7th Wisconsin as well as the 19th Indiana and the 24th Michigan Infantry. My uncle, a member of the 3rd Wisconsin was wounded in the Cornfield. My grouping was based on some Britain's figures but I have added and changed and repainted figures from other suppliers2011-10-301.jpg

Very nice looking formerdoc. I am a former member of the reenacting group Company K, 2nd WI and consider my WB Iron Brigade figures my favorites. I noticed that you are in the Janesville area . . . I am in the DeForest/Madison area. Have you been able to visit the Veteran's Museum in Madison lately . . . the new display "From Paper to Iron" is very nice. Here's a couple of photos I created some time ago showing my version of the Iron Brigade in the cornfield at Antietam . . .

Mike nice dio as always I don't recall the figure that is laying prone with the hat off.....Do you know off hand the #?

Mike's figure doesn't quite match the ones I have, but Conte did an Iron Brigade dead set many years ago that has three very nice figures. I incorporated one into each of my dioramas of the 24th MI at Gettysburg, 2nd WI at Gettysburg, and 6th WI at Antietam. Nice to see more Iron Brigade afficionados. I am eager to see what Britains does with these regiments down the road, especially the flag bearers. I lived for many years in Madison myself. I remember visiting the veterans museum and seeing the flag collection that used to be on display in the capitol. I will definitely check out the museum again whenever I can make a return visit.

Set # 17935 - Hold at all costs is the set with the dead soldier and a infantryman wearing a kepi reaching down to take a cartridge from his box. You can see it on the Britains page of the Treefrog Treasures online store. It's a nice set.

I have seen lots of dioramas of the Texans in the corn field at Antietnam. Was it the Iron Brigade they were opposing?

That's the one.
