Is 60mm starting to overtake the standard 54mm scale?....I prefer to make my figures 54mm as any background I make does not have to be so large ....dito...vehicles etc....a lot less expensive all round in materials as well......1/35 scale is popular as well......Will 60mm end up being the standard TS scale ?....curious...TomB

It is for me and will remain so as long as JJD continues to make his excellent Knights of the Skies series in 60mm.:wink2: -- Al

You like the KoTS series? I don't think I knew that. You have kept that interest to yourself!

I think in the matte realistic figures part of the hobby it will but in the glossy side it is still 54mm.Like you Tom I prefer my figures smaller from 1/48 to 1/32.I even have 28mm for a diorama.

I am subtle like that.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

I am not sure if you know but they have just released a Spad flown by an American with a German sounding name ... now what was it ... Immelmann ... no... Richtofen ...Rickenbacker ... that's it. Apparently it is a reasonable model. You should look into getting it.

Thanks for that...I guess the hobby is large enough to support both scales without any problem...will admit..60mm figures are easier to do because of the extra couple of mm,...I would like to known how they manage to make the smaller scales so well..if not ...in some cases...better than the larger scale...some of the plastic kit figure's...1/35 and smaller I have seen on the net are amazing in sculpt and detail........and...28mm...how do they do it ?.....cheers TomB

The sculpt is a rather good likeness of him. I remember reading his bio or auto bio when I was a teenager.

Depends on what era you collect. I mostly have ACW, AZW and WAN series. THey are all 54mm by WB and FL. KC not really a player in those conflicts. The KC ACW offerings are few and far between. Chris

Depends on who you collect.....fine.......I think 54 mm is a good scale...would not like to see 60mm taking over...my opinion.......regards TomB

Rickenbacker you say? Not sure I know that name. Will have to look into it and see if I can find out anything about him. I'm sure I've heard that word 'Spad' somewhere, though right now I can't place it. ^&confuse:tongue:^&grin -- Al

Brady, I read his auto bio as a teenager also. It was published in 1967, just titled "Rickenbacker". My parents gave me a copy on my birthday in 1968 and I still have it. He was a true American hero and the proverbial self-made man. -- Al
