Iv'e noticed that periodically, K&C releases special limited edition tanks, like the winter tiger, sandbagged Sherman etc, etc. I'm just wondering that at 1250 units per tank, is it really limited. Figarti is releasing tanks and jeeps at only 100 units available or Honour Bound Whose tanks are restricted to 200 apiece. The Shermans from Honour Bound basically sold out, which is not the case for the sandbagged sherman. I tend to think that it is the other guys whose vehicles are more limited! What do you think?

This has been discussed before, at length. If you do a search, you might be able to find the threads that discuss the pros and cons. Some believe that for a company the size of K & C 500 is an appropriate size. Others believe 999 (the amount issued for the Winter Tiger) while others believe that because of the collector base 1,250 is the right amount. Based on ebay sales and dealers stock, previous Limiteds like the Sherman and the Panzer Meyer Command Car, 1,250 was too much. 999 is probably about right. I can't see anything above that being limited. Dealers also prefer the 999 number.

Well, looking at the state of my bank account, I reckon that dealers really like the 666 number......:D:D:D

I would suspect that the Tiger will sell out. The Rommel Grief sold out. I know there were 500 less made, but I think at present DAK and the war in North Africa is top of the pops. Normady seems to be a little less popular, The Bulge is still up there but the war in the Desert seems to have been a bit of a slow burner. Furthermore the Tiger remains the most popular tank amongst collectors. More than the Sherman in all its manifestations or any other German tank. It sounds like a lot of people have double booked as well. It looks like a well made model to me on top of all that. I would suspect 1250 will be just right. Let us wait and see.

Damian, I agree and suspect this set will sell out, but not as fast as the Rommel set.

However I also agree with those that prefer the poses in the Winter Tiger set which have become a collectable in their own right. I would like to see similar poses in the future showing guys hanging around a fire having cups of tea/coffee and tinkering with their equipment and vehicles etc. The tank crew from K & C being a good start. I think the Honour Bound vehicles are terrific but to me their figures in their kitchen chow line set aren't up to K & C in detail - yet.

I really like the look of the desert tiger as well, but before I would even consider it, I would love to see The Honour bound tiger and compare, because they should be in the same price range. The thing with the Honour Bound product, is I'm sure there will be only a couple of 100 available. But the k&C figures are always a notch above. The figures that came with the sandbagged sherman are phenominal, especially ol' Bood & Guts George Patton. The quality compared to several years ago has jumped leaps and bounds, but so is the pricing. As they say, "you get what you pay for", but now one must really choose what they really need and what they can live without.

I personnaly like the fact that K/C has chosen to produce 1250 of the desert tiger......This assures that collectors will be able to purchase this item without being "frantic"........It may also help prevent or at least delay the price gouging in the secondary market which has become common place........by the time "opportunistic" sellers/investors?? attempt to drive up prices, most collectors will have an adequate chance to purchase this item at a reasonable retail price..........also......In the meantime K/C will have produced other items of interest.........I for one would not appreciate buying items from a manufacturer who attempts to create an urgency to buy......as I personally feel this would be manipulative.........I am glad that K/C produces items in reasonable amounts so that all have a chance to make a purchase.......Thank you Andy

As someone has said before, this market is still relatively small and over 1,000 perhaps is a bit high to be truely limited, but the market is expanding.

Anyway, the extras will suck up some of the investor interest which I feel ruined the Rommel set for most of those that missed out on it for a variety of reasons. For example, not everyone has that amount of ready cash available for hobby expenditure.
