I'm having a great week. I posted a thread a couple of days ago asking for some help in finding some retired K&C items. I literally spent the entire month of December seeking these items out on my own and came up empty. During my search I was told by several people that these items were going to be very hard to find and they wished me "good luck", because I was going to need it.

The light finally went on in my brain to go to this forum for help once again. As soon as I posted my help wanted ad, many of you responded and sent me PM's. After sorting through the flood of leads and advice, I found what I was looking for and even more. This is the third time I've sought advice or help from my fellow members and each time I was able to find the items I wanted (retired figures at that).

I've seen other toy soldier forums and they are good, but there is just something special about Treefrog that makes it the best for me. I always enjoy reading all the threads and posts on a daily basis, even those which do not pertain to me. I have found that this forum offers a lot for the toy soldier collector. Additionally, I am amazed at the overwhelming willingness of all the members to assist each other by providing answers, direction and ideas. It's really great to be on the receiving end of all this as I just was, but I believe all of us benefit immensly from this vast resource.

Thanks again to all my toy soldier brethern and especially to Pete and Shannon for their fantastic website and forum!

Thanks Revwarbuff for the positive accolades regarding the Treefrog Forum. This was exactly our intent when we launched it. We hoped to be the virtual worldwide "old-time general store" where collectors could pull up a chair, exchange stories, make friendships, keep informed and help each other out.
For those not familiar with the concept of "general store" in the pioneer days of America these stores crammed a variety of goods into a relatively small space and were the gathering place for information, conversation and socializing for the community. If you wanted news of current events you headed to the general store.
In British English similar retailers tend to be called a 'village shop' in rural areas or a 'corner shop' in urban or suburban settings. (thank you Wikipedia!)
Thank you all for your part in making the Treefrog Treasures forum the vibrant community it is!
Best regards,

Shannon,
If this was your intention, then there is little doubt you have well and truely succeeded and for that, I thank you.
You've provided a safe haven for like minded enthusiasts who can gleen information, goods, ideas etc, not only with other collectors, but with manufacturers as well, all on an informal and relaxed basis. Top forum. :)

As for British English?

Is there another sort of English out there? :D
What ho and toodle pip.

I thought there was only one form of English out there, the King's english. If I find out otherwise, I might be so knackered that I'd tell you lot to s*d off!

Oh bravo old chap! Spiffing use of the lingo, what.

Yes there is, it's called good Aussie English, any other kind just isn't cricket.

Whoops sorry, I forgot the English no longer like that game because some colonial country keeps whipping their arse at it :)

It's The Queen's English! :) And this forum is well wicked.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

Who mentioned cricket? I've kept very quiet for the last month on the subject. Too embarrassed to bring it up. We can't even make fun of the convicts cause our arse has been whooped good and proper.

Cricket? Oh yes, that quaint game devised for the Colonies. So those Australian chaps have won a game then have they? Well jolly good for them.

Can't say I'd noticed, what with all of the other sports that we currently dominate, like...er...erm.....

Fly fishing! Yes, that's the one!

(Dammit, dammit, dammit  )

That's the problem between the United States and Great Britain, we are separated by a common language. Seriously though, I barely speak the American dialect of English, and Andy goes and asks me to write the K&C book! Boy are you poor guys in trouble!

I agree that the forum is very interesting and much better then what I thought it would be when first started. Thanks Pete, Shannon and Brad.I read the forum daily.
I like Shannon's reference to a "General Store" where you gather to hear the latest news. Maybe there could be a virtual pot-bellied stove and checkerboard to pass the time.. This made me think of the TV series "Green Acres" . Sam had the store where characters like Mr. Channey and Arnold the pig hung out. Oliver and his country life. Still laugh at the reruns with Ava Gabor and Eddie Arnold.

John, I think you mean Fred Ziffle and Arnold the pig and it was Mr. Haney, he was kind of a rural con man. Mr Channey was the "Wolfman" (Lon Channey Jr.).:D

Now I remember-- Mr. Hanney. Yes Ziffle was the farmer who put up with Arnold. Maybe Mr. Hanney got a deal for me. John:D
