any of you guys that have the IS2 or NCY152 will you do some measuring for me? fender corner to fender corner, side to side, front to back. looking for exact measurements pics are good too. thanks

Google is your friend. Google JS-2 or ISU-152 select images and pages of photos will come up; some will be Figarti and other manufacturers models. The Treefrog archives have lots of info you can search for and you can go back through the Figarti threads which contain lots of photos.

Google JS-2 and select the Wikipedia or Tanks Encyclopedia entry; both sites have the dimensions of the JS-2 and ISU-152. The Figarti models are 1/30 scale. Divide the published dimensions by 1/30 and you will have the models dimensions within a few mm.

thanks but im actually trying to compare another manufactures measurements to the figarti ones. i have a theory that FOV is off on their KV and it is 1/30. and Orgneks are 1/30. its a lot to explain.

I understand where you are coming from. I have measured a number of FOV and 21st Century tanks and found them to be 1/30 scale. The 21st Century Cold Steel Kingtiger, Panzer IV and Stug IV are 1/30. The FOV M26 and Jagdtiger are also 1/30.

I did run some numbers on the FOV KV-1 and it is 1/32. The Figarti late production pieces tend to run over scale for some reason. The M26 and Panzer IV both measure at 1/29 scale. I have seen photos on the Figarti thread of the JS-2 and ISU-152 with First Legion figures and they were compatable in size. I find it interesting how many different model makers; both Styrene and Polystone have made overscale vehicles and insist that they are 1/32 or 1/30, when they clearly measure a considerably different size! 1/28 seems to be the new 1/30 scale. TCS led the way and now even K&C are making 1/28 scale Easy 8s.

I have built some old Bandai 1/30 scale models. A Hummel and a Jagdpanzer IV. I posted some photos of them with 60 mm figures and they look good. I was tempted by the Orgnek 1/30 models I have seen on Ebay; but I was concerned about their quality!

the orginek models say they are 1/30 but are the same size as the FOV KV-1 witch is why im asking for the messurements of the Figarti ones. i figured if anyone was right Figarti would be. yest the Orginek kits have poor quality with raised panel lines where they should be recessed and post war mud guards and an extra post war hatch. no cast texture and other things. The FOV KV-1 just seems so big compared to the other FOV stuff. its quite a bit bigger then FOV tiger 1 and its the same size as the FOV king tiger. i know the Kv-1 was big but i would have thought the tigers where bigger.

The Figarti KV-1 at 1/30 scale is 8.86 inches long, 4.36 inches wide and 3.56 inches high. Polystone models can vary in size due to shrinkage during curing in the mold and the amount of filler material and the type used. The FOV KV-1 is 1/32 and significantly smaller than the Figarti model. The Figarti Tiger I ETG-085 is 10.5 inches long with gun forward, 8.5 inch hull length, 5 inches wide and 4.25 inches high. Significantly larger than the Figarti KV-1. Figarti models are usually between 1/31 and 1/29 scale on average; given production variables.

Shrinkage; you mean like what happens when you come out of the pool?....................

Polystone is a polyurathane resin with filler materials added. The mold is usually Silicon Rubber soft tooling. The polyurathane shrinks in the mold during curing. The amount of shrinkage can be controlled by the percentage of filler added. Spin molding can reduce shrinkage by rotating the mold during curing and this also gives finer details; but at increased mold cost.
I have a spin cast Polyurathane resin Disney Nautilus 1/125 scale model that shows every rivet in the structure and no bubbles or voids.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good old fashioned scale debate as much as the next guy, but sometimes when a 68MPH fastball comes your way, you have to take a swing..........................:wink2:
