After several years of stalling, I finally ordered the Italeri PAK 40 & servants and the Elite German Infantry and I have one huge question... Why on earth would Italeri release 2 supposed 1/32 sets with such a size discrepancy? I am assuming it is the same for the 2 Russian sets.

The Artillery men match Conte and TSSD and the Infantry are just about Airfix size. There's about half a head difference and the infantry look like Hitler Jugend next to the gunners. With what seems to be the same sculptor, why would this happen?

I bought all 4 sets back when they were first released and was slightly bothered by the tiny scale difference, but I enjoyed them anyway.
Probably tooled at different times, strangely the 1:72 versions also suffer from the same slight scale disparity.
For those who care, both artillery set figures are in perfect scale to fit in with TSSD.
Coincidentally , the WW II BRITAINS DEETAIL sets also suffered from this strange misstep.
The British and Japanese artillery sets are also slightly up-scaled.

It doesn't bother me. To me they are close enougth that i don't worry about it. Love the German Anti-tank gun and crew. I wish they would have made all of their 1/72 Germans into 1/32. I would love to see someone make the old Revell 1/72 Germans and G.I.'s into 1/32.

I'm with you!
There were 16 poses in the infantry sets, from which only 8 were made.
Luckily, all 6 poses were made from the artillery sets.
Sadly the 8 poses that they omitted from each set had some of the BEST poses!!

Don't get me wrong, I really like these sets and plan on getting their Soviet counterparts soon. I just was a little dismayed that two sets from the same range and scale, from a major manufacturer, were not standardized. My only other wishes for these figures would be to have them in softer dark gray plastic to match my other Germans.

You can get a bag of knockoff versions of the Soviet infantry poses in 1/32 from one of those Chinese toy companies. These include the other 8 poses. The plastic is much more fragile and they have awful paint jobs, but at least they are available. They never pirated the Germans, so the 8 in the Italeri set are all we will get.

I wish Italeri would continue to up-scale their entire line of 1/72 to 1/32, they have a very broad range of figures that would be needed addition to 1/32 plastics overall.

Well, sadly I don't ever think ITALERI will make any more WWII 1:32.
I can't stand the yellow plastic and lack of poses ether, so here was my solution!
MAKE CONVERSIONS and PAINT THEM!

These are 2 of the 4 upscaled Chinese rip-offs from the original 8 omitted poses.

Here are the other 2.

I had read that the Italeri German infantry were "closer to 1/35th" scale but didn't know that the gun crews were larger. Thanks for pointing this out.

It's quite noticeable when they are side-by-side. Gary, BTW, I still intend to send you those figures for conversion. I'm just a little side-tracked right now. Sorry for the delay.

This one is for you Gary B.

DRAGON FIGURES are 1:35
AIRFIX is 1:32
TSSD is 1:30
EXPEDITIONARY FORCE is 1:28 (?)

The ITALERI figures are 1:32

I know it's not your intention,
but misinformation about scales hurts the hobby and it hurts sales.

Yes, PG the scales can be confusing. I have been into plastic models for many, many years and with a background in that hobby scales MEAN something quite specific. I was disappointed when I started fooling around with "toy" soldiers where scale means whatever the manufacturer wants it to mean. "True" 1/32nd scale involves 3/8" to one foot ratio and includes soldiers like Airfix Multipose, the 1970's vintage Monogram tank kits, etc. Then comes "54mm" scale which SHOULD be close to 1/32nd but varies quite a bit. I was surprised when I first got into the toy soldiers. I bought some 21st Century vehicles and found them to be close to 1/32nd scale. Then I bought some Conte US paratroopers and found them to be larger than my 1/32nd figures, then my first K&C purchase was the wrecked StuG III and suddenly I found that I had bought an "overscale" monster! I enjoy conversions and such in various sizes but am always on the lookout for "true" 1/32nd items.

Well said Gary.
I'm glad you brought up the AIRFIX MULTI-POSE figure kits. because the are an actual "Model" product,
AITFIX MULTI-POSE technically is a scale modelling product where the scaling has to be accurate.
Unlike their AIRFIX toy soldier sets that always varied in scale MULTI-POSE is accurate.
Toys are toys. Model kits 95% tend to be accurate when it comes to scale.
I think I need to make a thread called:
The 1:32 Scale Guide.
