I highly appreciate the effort of this producer to propose historical events forgotten or often ignored by most of the world's TS makers.
TM's latest releases are very interesting and the figures are very well sculpted and painted.
I’d like to see produced the theme of the Italian Wars of Independence with Piedmontese Army, Garibaldi’s Red Shirts, French, Austrians, Papal State and soldiers of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies (Borboni).
The uniforms are very colorful and the variety of the Armies and their Regiments very interesting.

...consider it TM please,
thank you
Carlo

Dear Carlo,

I agree with you. It would be great to have Risorgimento figures of this quality. So far a have a few figures from Saimex and I am thinking to get some from Plantageneto.

Kind regards
Thanasis

I would really like to see a figure of Mazzini and of Cavour. I I already have Del Prado's Gambetta.

I may say that I am a lover of Italy. One of my favourite places is Santa Margherita Ligure. I have been there twice and I will be again. During my recent visits I realized that I knew almost nothing about Risorgimento, so I decided to study. Now, I know a lot! Among them about the armies and the people involved. So a few Bersaglieri alongside the Team's Zouaves or Infantry will be more than welcomed. Also some Garibaldini fighting the Grenadieri delle due Siciliae. For the people who like books (MikeNick this is for you) and love Italy like me The Pursuit of Italy is highly recommended.

Probably you are referring to Del Prado Garibaldi! :) Btw yes, a lot of corps, splendid uniforms and about 30 years of wars to portray, but i think that the focus of Team Miniatures for the moment is about 1890 to 1910 wars. I 'd produce WWI Italian troops agains Austro-Hungarian...

I am also rather fond of all things Italian (being of 3/4 Italian descent), and agree that some Bersaglieri would be a nice addition. Here are some photos of my WWI Bersaglieri officer's uniform (including hat, tunic and a wonderful cape) along with a 1914 Steiff WW1 Bersaglieri soldier doll as well as a Steiff 1920/30's Italian Boyscout Doll (the last shot also depicts my grandfather's WWI uniform and a Steiff 1918 Doughboy Doll wearing the same uniform):

dear Louis, your uniform is gorgeous! I agree that the Italian Bersaglieri can be an excellent subject to include in a Toy Soldier series since they, after their foundation in 1836, participated, with varying fortunes, in all the Italian military missions. Their feathered hat is a feature known around the world.
As for the doll on the hat it looks more a Balilla boy of the fascist period than an Italian Boy Scout, a totally different type of education in the two youth associations. Furthermore, the Fascist regime imposed to disband the Italian Scouting in 1928, together with many other youth national associations, in favor of the regime organizations.
Cheers

I always suspected that he was a Balilla boy, but Steiff listed him as an Italian Boyscout so I went along with their description. Thank you for clearing it up.

On 20 September of 150 years ago (1870), the Bersaglieri of Generale Raffaele Cadorna entered in Rome which will become the new capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

Not a major history event prefer to stick to main history that impacted the world, too many of these little unknown conflicts TM is doing

I am down for any conflict that will result in Austro-Hungarian troops, with apologies to our wonderful Italian forum members {sm4}

I totally agree with you Carlo. A range with Risorgimento figures would be great. At least as part of the Franco-Prussian war. See below few of my Risorgimento figures from Stefano Alorini. Do you know Plantageneto figures?

Kind regards
Thanasis

Hi Thanasis, how are you? Yes I know 'Il Plantageneto', he is a craftsman from Central Italy who prefers the Risorgimento period and the Italian Army in particular depicting his specialities in the various eras. I don't collect these figures but I know they are much appreciated by many collectors.
I comprehend that this period would not have a good reception among international collectors but I continue to hope that sooner or later some firm will consider it.
The uniforms of the 'Kingdom of the Two Sicilies' are among the most beautiful and colorful of the period.
best wishes, Season Greetings,
Carlo

Dear Carlo,

Thank for answering my post. I love Italy. I have been there many times and I hope I will be many more. I know the history of Risorgimento and I found it very interesting. Since the battle of Waterloo the next major conflict in Europe was the Austro-Pussian war (connected with Risorgimento). I really don't think that Risorgimento was a minor incident. It lasted years, a kingdom cease to exist and a new nation emerged. It changed the map of Europe. And of course, it was colourful!. For the toy soldier community if there was a movie with Charlton Heston as Garibaldi, instead as a U.S.Marines Captain maybe things would be different. I have some Plantageneto Carabinieri and Polizia figures and I will get more.
Buon Natale!

Kind regards
Thanasis

P.s. I believe my presepi are better than Vatican's
