The movie that inspired K&C's vast expansion of WWII production. Andy had brilliantly decided to "do WWII to the Nth power" when he launched matt WWII with the first Arnhem release in 1995, but the launch of the DD and expansion of the WS series (which had previously consisted primarily of repaints of earlier glossy WWII figures in matt) as well as the release of the first polystone vehicle, IWJ13, the IWO Sherman, corresponded with the release of Saving Private Ryan, which Andy was aware of due to one of his friends, who worked on the movie as some sort of technical advisor. Proving naysayers like myself, who hated the early polystone vehicles, wrong, the more affordable polystone vehicles and well timed release of GI's while Saving Private Ryan was ruling the box office worldwide brought K&C to the pinnacle of toy soldier production.
