The Team @ Gunn

The Zulu War

The Natal Carbineers Regiment traces its roots to 1854 but it was formally raised on 15 January 1855. Since its inception, the Natal Carbineers have participated in every campaign in KwaZulu-Natal. Their baptism of fire came during the Langalibalele Rebellion in 1873 where they suffered their first casualties in the Drakensberg action.

Subsequently during the Anglo-Zulu War, the Carbineers suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879.
The Carbineers who were out at the front of the Zulu attack unfortunately running low on ammunition had to withdraw into the main camp, thereby exposing “G” Company’s right flank beside them. Lieutenant Pope on Durnford’s left would have had no choice but to also retire, thus exposing Wardell’s flank, and so on. The result was a collapse of the line and a precipitate retirement towards the high ground at the rear.

The Zulu's wasted no time in exploiting this gap and rushed into the camp killing everyone they could find including many of the camp animals and pets and then looting the camp for anything of value.
This military disaster was one of the greatest defeats for a European army at the hands of native African forces.

We have one standing firing Carbineer in our first release as follows with kneeling Carbineer to follow soon:
SFA039A Standing firing Carbineer (100 x Pte)
SFA039B Standing firing Carbineer (50 x Lance Cpl)
SFA039C Standing firing Carbineer (50 x Cpl)

Priced at $45/£40 per figure whilst stocks last.

Dear All

Welcome to our first figure release of 2021, it's a small offering as traditionally people still recovering from their Christmas splurge, however the quality is there in spades and the prices are not too bad either!

Starting off in historical context lets take a look at how our Romans are doing in the Teutoburg forest:

ROMEN017 Barbarian with Captured Roman Eagle

Not the only time it has happened but of note is that all three eagles from the three Legions involved in the battle were lost or captured by the Barbarian hordes during this epic battle.
Our depiction has a jubilant Barbarian obviously very pleased with his prize and happy to let the whole world know about it.
Limited to 100 in number and priced at $55/£45.

These are great and I would love to see TG continue to make some of the other units involved in the Anglo Zulu War. I would really love to see a few more 60th Rifles to add to the 2 figure running set that came out many years ago. We need a few firing

These pics should have made the newsletter but in all the excitement we forgot to add, however better late than never and hope you enjoy.

Just ordered 1 of the Germanic warriors and 2 of the Centurions, 1 for my Teutoburg Forest Dio and another for my 9th Legion fighting dio against J Jenkins Gauls.

The GI with the Grease Gun is a very nice surprise.
I may have to buy the Collectors Showcase M26 Pershing.......unless TG is going to make one.

These could be available next month or March depending on shipping times, there will be 4 figures in the initial release.

Here are some photos of the nearly painted figures, still some adjustments to make like addition of gloves and some more shading but gives you an idea.
