Hi,
Just noticed that John has updated his web site. Looks like 431 of set #2 are to be made, (Set #1 was 376).:)

That is a more than I would have guessed. Some of the 350 limited runs take a while to sell out. For example, I think the Rogers set is still available. So someone must be stocking up on these.

I tend to agree with you, although I'm sure there must be some collectors who didn't get their order in quick enough for set #1.

Check ebay, there is multiples of #1 for sale. I was surprised as I thought it was only 1 per person.

Tom are you confusing the Lt.Jenkins set as #1 because the Jenkins set is not # 1,the Halkett set is.The Jenkins figure is what you bought if you wanted to join the club.

Mark,
you are correct, I am at that!

It is my understanding that there is no limit to the number of Jenkins 2009 figures Club figures and that it is still available (presumably until the 2010 figures is ready). Those who want to buy Club figures 1 and/or 2 must have bought the Jenkins 09 figure. To be able to buy multiples of a Club#1/2 you would have to also purchase equal number of the Jenkins 09 and this has obviously happened.

I'm not sure that is the way I understood it...

but I may be wrong...

I thought that every single collectors club figure that was made is a pre-order...

already spoken for and sold...commited to purchase by order...

That was was my understanding.

There shouldn't be any on a shelf anywhere if I'm correct.

Only the pre-ordered amount was supposedly produced...

Of course a dealer or anyone else could enroll himself...

and with his one membership...

he could purchase unlimited club figures to sell later...

so...

I thought that you could pre-order unlimited figures once you were a member...

as many as you wanted with one single membership...

that was my understanding...

am I wrong?

Hi Mike,
You are right. You have to purchase one 'membership figure' for the year, then to quote John's web site;

'Members may PRE-ORDER 1 special club set per membership. Members may order more than 1 set, but must PRE-PAY for the extra sets'.

Pete

I stand corrected guys.
For me as a dealer I have been getting one of each Ltd figure for each Club Figure.

I'm sure special collectors sets will appearing for sale in the future......but I suppose it's a free world. I know I'll only be buying one of each (as long as it's a period I'm interested in), unless a figure comes out that could be used in multiples.

Even if you had to buy a club figure to enable you to buy a special set, I'm sure some people would do that anyway, but as I said before, it's a free world.....

Pete...

I distinctly remember John saying...

that any "collector club figures" he produced...

would be considered "one off figures" by collectors...

celebrities...flag bearers...etc...

just the type of set you would only buy to display one of...

meaning to me...

not the type of set that collectors would consider a "multiple" purchase...

such as a firing line or marching line...

which he told me he would only release as a "general release"...

so far with...Jenkins, Halkett and Scarouyady...

that seems to be the case...

Brett...

I'm sure some are being bought to resell at a later date...

I'm not sure how many initial membership figures of Lt. Jenkins were sold...

does anybody know...

I doubt 431 memberships were purchased...

Halkett sold 376 by pre-order...

Scarouyady sold 431 by pre-order...

quite a jump...431 pre-orders...that's a lot...

so I'm sure some are being purchased to be resold...

there are some Lt. Jenkins on Ebay right now...

The merits or lack thereof of the ebay sellers has been discussed at great length on the forum. I don't want to open that can of worms but on the upside, I assume John is happy selling as many figures as possible to whoever wants them. It may ensure that a club figure is produced. Also, new collectors who miss out on the club figures will have a source to purchase them in the future (albeit at inflated prices). On the downside, it somewhat diminishes the exclusivity of the club figures if they are produced in the same or even larger numbers than the normal personality figures. Whether that's good, bad or indifferent probably depends on where you fall in this chain.

All good points you make! More upsides than downsides I think. Without the Collectors club I doubt these figures would ever be made.

Mike,
Yes you're quite right.
