JJ for March (2 Viewers)

Should be 2 - 3 sets of 1812 plus who knows what else.

John will be at the West Coaster Show Feb 28 - Mar 2 so we might see some photos and find out about future sets.

According to John a new set or sets is ready for BOS but I have no idea what it or they might be.

Will certainly be adding this set to my quickly expanding collection of JJD FIW figures. I used to collect just K&C RW figures. Ever since receiving two of the Blockhouses and both civilian sets I have decided to switch to JJD figures for awhile. Just ordered all three sets of Va Militia, the cannon crew w/six pound gun, 3 woodland indian sets (one w/bows, two w/muskets), FM03 French Militia, and FM04 Coureur de Bois. Was lucky enough to find FM03 and FM04 at the Gettysburg Antique Center. I believe March Through Times also still has these sets. I also have two stockade sets preordered.

I owe, I owe, so its off to work I go . . .

Mike

Mike,

Those are all awsome sets.

One of the best Osprey series books I have ever read is Campaign #140, Monongahela 1754-55, Washingtons's defeat, Braddock's disaster. This book is a must have for anyone collecting FIW.

New Releases For March 2008

Hello

John has announced 3 new sets for March. Please find the details and the photo's I hope you enjoy. We should have these on our web site later on today, with a bit of luck.

Also unfortunatly John cannot now attend the Westcoaster show as expected, so we hope to host him again in Chicago.

Hope you enjoy the new releases.

Very best regards

Mike

Just got my sets of WIM-07, SWI-03 & USCH-02 from John.

The WIM-07 & SWI-03 figures are some of the best yet.

The WIM-07 posers are great attacking / fighting posers, a shame there are 1000 sets, but that lets everyone enjoy them.

Aussie Monty :)

I agree I would really like to see some more limited sets it makes collecting more fun and if I dont happen to get the limited sets than the hunt begins and that is challeging and rewarding for me as a collector.

I find that limiting the sets to a really small number, puts too much of a strain on many collectors with limited funds to buy them as soon as they are released. I think that John's normal issue of 500 is a good number. With the American economy currently in serious trouble and getting worse by the day, discretionary income for things like toy soldiers is shrinking.

I'm not sure why JJ releases the Indians in sets of 1000. I don't think many collectors buy duplicates like they do for some of the Brit and French regulars that can be displayed in mass. It seems at least double the number necessary and all the early Indian sets are still widely available - so he is not selling 1000. The strategy now seems to be to release an occasional 250 set to stir up interest and settle on 500 for most others. I think it took him a while to recognize the importance of the limited numbers to collectors - at one point he was even considering reissuing some of the earlier sets, but dropped the idea when it became apparent that would upset many collectors.

I agree I just wonder if companys can still afford to make 500 to 1000 sets of something and hope they sell. Thats alot of product to sit on, I think overtime if the economy does not improve they may be forced to make only what they think they can sell. Good for collectors who like limited production bad for collectors who cant snap them up right a way. Hard to please everyone I guess.

Yes Apache. I've really had to focus for this coming year and try to keep to a plan and budget. That's why the JJ blockhouses and stockade were not on my list. Figures had to come first. This economy tends to chill those of us who are retired.

I see what my parents are going through. They cancelled most of their travel this year and refuse to let us kids help. I am glad that you have the time to post pictures because they are alot of fun to view. Thanks Joel

just received the latest sets from john.... the 'abanaki' kneeling and firing, under close examination, seems to have a goatee unless its my eyes and the lighting in my den. if it is, its a 'marine' gone native, which was quite common. the french in north america did not frown on this, as it would up the friendship and trust of their indian allies....

Hi Andy

That's why I posted a question earlier about whether one of the SWI-03 set might be a French Marine since he had the pouch.

He is the only JJ Indian I have that has no paint on his face? Is he and Indian or not? I am not sure?

I just recieved my SWI-3 & WIM-7 and I agree with Pugio about the goatee. As usual pictures don't do them justice. One question I need To ask out of curiousity.Do any of you feel that the older collectors of Jenkins get lower numbered editions because I always seem to get the higher numbered sets.(I think they should ) Now I don't care what number I get as long as I get the set but I'm just curious because I ordered the last 2 sets as soon as they were available and I got SWI-3 #400 andWIM-7 #348.One more opinion I have is about how many sets should be produced.I agree they shouldn't be made by the thousands.I like the idea of uniqueness, but it seem like more and more people are starting to collect these figures ( such as my self ) and it would be a shame for people who have been collecting them for a while to miss out on a set.Myself I'm not collecting every set but I do want all of the Snowshoes collection and will be very disappointed if I don't get them all.I just brought these questions up to get other peoples opinions and get a discussion going.VIVA to all Jenkins Collectors.
Mark
