here is a picture of my Peasant Levy Aztec Warriors...

they made up the bulk of the Aztec army...
these commoners had no access to extravagant armor, and usually wore simple quilted cotton armor.

the majority of these troops were armed with a bow.
these archers were sometimes accompanied by shield-bearers...
who were trained to defend the archers and were experts at deflecting arrows with their shields.

Aztec young novice warriors or soldiers who had only captured one of the enemy...
usually wore simple cotton quilted tlahuiztli body armor, and carried a simple maquahuitl.

these are Tlaxlcalan warriors...

while they were Aztec...they allied with the Spaniards to defeat the Aztec empire...

the Tlaxcalan tribe refused to pay tribute to the Aztec Triple Alliance and were at war with them...
with the Spaniards as their allies...
they finally defeated the Aztec Triple Alliance...

The Spanish are a little outnumbered, but have the advantage with fire power. Such a colourful series making for a wonderful collection Mike. Just need a temple to house them all^&grin Robin.

Mike, the "LIKE" still isn't working, but we're with you. Great pics!:salute::

The "Thanks" and "Likes" should both be working?

Ahh, it is indeed working, Julie. Just displays a little differently. Thanks for straightening me out!:salute::

Nice collection of figures Mike and the jungle scenery really sets them off. What I would like to see is some marching Conquistadors to follow behind the mounted figures and to fill my own diorama out. Congratulations on your calendar entries that made the final selection and to the other participants. There are certainly many dedicated and talented collectors out there. Regards Greg.
