This is the start of my Roman fort scene featuring the JJD fort. The base has been built using plywood and a layer of foam placed on top. A moat to surround the fort has been created and will later be filled with artificial water. The next stage is to do the groundwork. I will post more pictures as the diorama proceeds. Regards Sapper.

Greg you are certainly on the way to doing justice to this fab fort. :salute::, Robin.

Looking forward to seeing the Fort and your diorama come together. Looks like it's going to be quite epic.

Steve

Thanks Robin and Steve for the interest and remarks. This fort is massive in size and takes up a sizeable area. I had to go and get a second packet of ground cover to cover the base of the diorama. I'm looking to see how it evolves as well as this is one of my favourite series. Regards Greg.

Greg...
that looks like an impressive start...
I love the frame you have built into it...
do you plan on painting or staining it?
how big is it?
I hope you keep showing your progress with some detailed explanations on what you have done...

Thanks Mike for your interest. I think just for something different I might stain the timber frame. I know you are partial to doing that with your dioramas and it looks classier. Looks like a great new conquistador figure to be released in the Aztec series and the prizes in the Caption Competition are spectacular. JJD seems to have my greatest attention for collecting at the moment and more good things to come. I will put some more explanation in my future posts. Regards Greg.

Greg...that would like nice....I also put a high gloss polyurethane coat on mine...it really gives it a finished look...please keep showing the progress with pictures...I love these types of threads...

I look forward to seeing what you do with this. I wish I had room and budget for it.

I've put down some ground cover,a product from Heki. Around the moat is a longer grass from Noch. The tall grasses will be painted with a weak green acrylic solution. My next task is to stain the timber frame and put a protective coating over that. Regards Greg.

Some more progress on diorama with timber frame done another layer of groundcover put down and some pine trees added. Next the water, and a bridge with tall grasses along the moat to be added. Then the good part with the placing of figures.Greg.

Gee you are doing a fantastic job Greg. John would be thrilled with your efforts to promote his product.:salute::, Robin.

These Fort sections look great together Greg and look forward to seeing what the overall diorama looks like when you get the figures in too !

Steve

Will be posting finished diorama later today. Regards Sapper.

Looks fantastic! I hope to see John make some wall sections w/o the tower to expand the fort even further. It would even be better if he would focus on some structures w/in.

Outstanding! That's a wonderful collection you have and brilliantly displayed.

Brendan

Fantastic diorama Greg :salute:: It looks like something out of a big budget film and all the different manufacturers figures work well together in your dramatic scene. Again well done Greg :salute:::salute:::salute::
