I recently put some Rivet Rewards discounts to good use at Treefrog Treasures and got a JJD RAAF Spitfire and ground crew. I was debating whether or not to go with the Clive Caldwell or Frank Inger versions that Treefrog had in stock and ultimately settled on the Frank Inger version (RAAF-02D). I held off for months on the JJD Spitfire as something never looked quite right about it in the JJD promo pics, but I’m glad I took the plunge as it’s a fantastic model! Now to track down a Johnny Johnson D-Day Spitfire Mk.IX...

Here are some pics of my little setup of FO Fred Inger’s Spitfire Mk.VIII from No.80 Wing, 457 Sqn, Morotai Island, in April 1945. The display base is my own custom dirt airfield display base. Enjoy!

That looks awesome!!, Congratulations on a great buy, if I was not so devoted to the Corsair, and the Bunker Hill pieces, this would have been a very great substitute...

Very nice piece. I love the diorama you made and the dirt looks very authentic.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone!

The dirt on the diorama base is real dirt from my backyard... I dried it out, sifted out the larger particles, and then used a lot of flat clear spray lacquer (dull coat) to affix and seal the dirt onto a wooden board. The fine dirt particles mix with the lacquer to form a hard, dry surface that works perfectly for this type of display.

Nice! Thanks for sharing your pics.
