I received the new JJD WWII German Panther G tank model (GA-40) last week and John has certainly done justice to this famous tank! It’s a great model with John’s usual attention to detail (inside and outside) as well as functionality. The opening hatches and full interior are definitely the highlights of this model.

My vignette display depicts the Panther (painted to match one from the 5th Panzer Division) on the outskirts of Goldap, East Prussia, in November 1944. It’s accompanied by some late war Panzer Grenadiers from W. Britains.

Enjoy 😎

I'd like to know what figures the soldiers are. I'm guessing First Legion but I haven't been keeping up with the newer manufacturers.

I do have several of the newer Thomas Gunn Waffen SS soldiers, would they be to Big compared to this JJD tank?

Really great tank, but bit too steep in price at £408, wish he would do a cheaper version without all the internal detail. Know people like the detail, but to me is just a waste as you do not really see it in a static display. Maybe engine deck open i understand, but none of the other stuff. Could do a second version from same unit.

The Panzergrenadiers are W. Britains. The Panzer commander is a War Park figure.

JJD tanks are true 1/30, and work best with the smaller figures like W. Britains, First Legion, and War Park. The Thomas Gunn Waffen SS are a little too large/bulky in my opinion.

Nice tank, but also nice camo on the infantry . I wish jenkins, kc or thomas gunn could offer such camoflouge. Realistic not made up schemes

Thanks OzDigger! As Hunter Rose just said, the Panzer Grenadier figures are from W. Britains and the tank commander is a new one from War Park. Personally, I like pairing JJD WWII armor with War Park and Britains figures the best. First Legion figures, with their style of painting and weathering, are almost too fancy and look best with their own armored vehicles.

I have to agree with your thoughts on the W. Britains WWII Germans… They are excellent and a great value for the cost! I like the uniform colors as well and the fact they’re on “dirt” bases, not snowy ones. That makes them more versatile for any late war setup between Fall 1944 and Spring 1945.

Good to know. Looking for armor to go with my W.Britains figures and 88mm gun. My K&C figures and armor are too big and don’t combine well IMHO.

What an impressive beast this is. Detailing is superb and pictured in your scene makes it look even better. Very nice!

Sir,

Could you provide the product numbers for those Warpark and West Britain's figures? At the risk of being accused of plagiarism, I'd like to order the same ones and duplicate this display to some extent.

Many Thanks.

1970LT1, thanks for the kind comments! I’ve listed the specific figures in the diorama below and have included links to where you can get them on Treefrog’s site (for convenience). All are currently available and retailers also have them.

JJD is saa]me sizing as First legion - war park - Britain’s

Sadly TG are huge in comparison

Boy, did I ever luck out. I have long admired this beautiful JJD Panther but never could afford it at retail price. I have managed to snag a 'damaged' example off of E-Bay for an unbelievable price that, including shipping, was a tad under $200. The damage that was described was the gunner's seat, in the turret basket, was broken off, but present. Since this part is unseen when the model is displayed whole, I jumped on the purchase. On arrival this afternoon, the model was as described, with only the seat damage, but otherwise in great condition. I am thrilled to own this beauty and feel incredibly fortunate to have gotten it so cheaply. It is my first armor purchase in years as prices have just pushed me out. This Panther now has pride of place on my desk and will remain there. Now I will have to get some infantry and a tank CO to man it. -- Al
