Now that the last batch has arrived time to post some photos of my FIW collection, painted by John Firth, whose talent you already know:

-Woodland Indians:

-Frasers Highlanders-take a look at the kilts with the Frasers colours!:

-Regiment de La Sarre:

-Rogers' Rangers with Stockbridge Indian and General Wolfe

These are all Tradition's castings kindly painted in John's superior gloss style (which I would call connoisseur gloss:p).

Very nice Paulo. As a FIW collector you know I would like these.Even though I don't collect glossy it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the beauty and charm of them.

Paulo,

love those figures, and even more with John's paintwork.

The tartans are brilliant, wish I could do that good with my work, but I keep trying :)

You're lucky, I like both gloss and matte, it just depends on how good they are:tongue:!

Inspirational. Still just love the way John does it - and makes me want to try even harder to get better. johnnybach:salute::

John Firth is the best figure artist I have seen. His stuff is just unbeatable. Your collection is beautiful. -- Al

Does John Firth paint figures he himself sculpt/produces, or does he paint castings made by other manufacturers?

If he only paints his own, has he done any WWI or WWII pilots, aircrew and/or groundcrew?

If he paints casting made by other manufacturers, does anyone know a company presently making castings of 54mm WWI or WWII pilots, aircrew and/or groundcrew he could paint, and how to contact him to engage him to paint them? I would love to display some figures on my airfield diorama painted by him to his incredibly high glossy standard.

John goes by Beating Retreat at this forum, so you can send him a PM. I can't remember any such company (Rose or Steadfast?) but if you ask him he might know of something!

Cheers,
Paulo

That is some well painted figures Paulo. The glossy F/I war figures have my attention. I don't have many other then the Redcoat series in gloss. Thanks for the nice pics. John

Yeomanry Miniatures have both WW1 and WW2 Air Force figures. Also Squadron Range produced by Tradition have similar. Asset have a few unusual figures including the Women's Air Force Auxiliary. Trooper

Thanks guys for the info. I will have to see if John is interested in doing some WWI Royal Flying Corps figures for me to his amazing level of glossy quality.

Hi Louis

I bought one of the castings of a WW2 RAF pilot from Yeomanry at the London show last December. If you want I will post a pic of the casting at the side of a K&C RAF Policeman for size comparison if you are interested. I bought the casting but am not intending to use it now.

Cheers John

Louis - Sarum Soldiers used to do a WW1 Pilot - might be worth contacting Patrick to ask if he still has the mould - or if it has gone to someone else. Also, Delprado did a Balloon Observer 1917 and a Sergeant RFC in their Men at War range (60mm - so might be a bit big). Last two should be easy to come by - and could be stripped & repainted.

May help, johnnybach

These look like an amazing bunch of figures Paulo. Must've been really exciting to open them all up as they arrived at your place. More of John's excellent work on display. :smile2:
