Jubilee Figures (2 Viewers)

Dave:

Were all the Jubilee sets available to the public, or were any Collectors Club only?

Dick

Hi Dick

The way I remember and my Club magazines seem to confirm this these were Club issues and were available to the public. They did bring the entire display to the Chicago Show in 2004 and when that Show ended they sold it to the people in attendance.

There was also a limited edition set that goes with this display. It was released in 2003 and is a depiction of the Crowning Cerimony itself. It is a rather nice look set with 5 figures all decked out in their state robes and Queen Elizabeth being Crowned. I will have to see if I can find the set number.

I believe that this last set was the only one available to everyone.

All the best

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to list all of the sets that make up this series. I agree it surely would be an impressive site to see this all set up.

Do you know if this series is depicting the Coronation of 1953 or the Anniversary procession of 2003

I wonder why they didn't make any mounted Lifeguards or Horseguards to go with this series or a sovereigns escort

Hi Scott,

Good questions. I would think that since they already make a lot of Guards and other mounted troops you could go a head and use these and no special ones were thought necessary. (Just a guess here) I believe this series is also the Coronation. I will take a look at the paperwork I have for it and see what they say in The Standard also.

Hope this helps for now

All the best

Dave

Dave,

Any info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding the Life/Horseguards etc. I was looking at a site regarding the 1953coronation and the Irish state was used by the Queen Mother & Princess Margaret for their journey to Westminster Abbey.

Britains brought their Irish state coach out in 2000 so I wonder if this was the run up to the Coronation series. The two figures within certainly fit. If they are not I don't know who they would be, as they are certainly not dressed for the opening of parliament.

Yo Trooper Dave, have put photo up of the 7th Queens Own Hussars Jubilee issue band, its the band on the left Grey bases. I had the band on the right made to match The 3rd Kings Own Hussars, and as we all know by now or should do I have mentioned it a lot lol, the 7th Queens Hussars & 3rd Kings Hussars = The Queens own Hussars from 1958 my Old regiment so together they represent the QOH, go on my son (happy days).
Bernard.

Bernard,

Have you thought about using photobucket or a similar site? Makes the resizing issue easy. If not, if you e-mail the photos to me, I'll be glad to chuck them through that system on your behalf.

Cheers
Simon

Bernard -- just wondering -- when you had the 3rd Hussars made, why didn't you opt for grey bases on the figures so as to match the 7th?

Hopefully, a bit larger:

All trhe best

Yo Trooper Dick, you always catch me out lol, I dont think of things like that. BUT now if anyone does ask me I will say so you can see the difference, if they were all the same bases you would think its the same Regiment, BUT one is the 3rd Kings Hussars, the other is the 7th Queens Hussars. I had them painted different so not to look like the same Regiment. "PHEW" got out of that one nicely my son.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

No matter what the color of the bases -- very nice sets. They will make a very nice addition to your collection. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Bernard,
you need 2 more bands. as I recall the QOH were merged with he QORIH - Queens Own Royal Irish Hussars. The royal Irish was the combo of the 4th and 8th, so your regiment and Winston's are the same. Congratulations you are mobbing in good company.

Yo Trooper, Nah once it lost its name the QOH thats as far as I go with my old regiment. Agree with you over the other two famous regiments, the 4th & 8th Hussars both in the "Charge Of The Light Brigade" have them in my Balaklava set up.
Bernard.

The British army you gotta love it.
Great bands there Bernard.
