June Dispatches (1 Viewer)

What the heck!! How come there isnt anymore LAH or Germans in the June Dispatch for "future releases"!!! Or something different for once, like an italian vehicle or armour!!

Are you kidding or being serious?

I only fear that the shade of the new 8th army Khaki uniforms is a bit darker yellow than the previous releases. I certainly hope the uniform shadings match the previous releases. Or it maybe the lighting effect while taking these pictures? Anyone reckon?

It really doesn't matter since the fabric faded in the desert sun and there were a number of variations in the khaki, which was also a result of different manufacturers and dye lots. So not to worry. It's more realistic that way. It could be as you say the photos and their lighting source.

These new releases are incredible, the tank is over the top terrific, amazing how much K & C has taken things to another level. The figures look amazing, very much like the Russian high end figures in my opinion. Look at the shading on the knees of the stretcher team.

The tank riders are a nice touch, we had an entire thread awhile ago in the suggestion section of the site (aka Gambale land) about tank riders. The ambulance is nice as well.

Kudos to the K & C team............

Plus, there have been comments in books that new troops to the desert would purposely wash and fade their khakis to get a "veteran" appearance. So with the Eighth Army's casual enforcement of dress standards in the field, I would be surprised if very many trops matched exactly.

I'm willing to bet the small number of releases this month is a trend we will see in the future as a result of the economic slowdown. Hopefully things will pickup again in the not too distant future but, any good businessman will recognize the market realities and adjust accordingly, taking less risks and sticking to the sure thing. Accordingly I'll also bet Andy will step up the retirement rate to cut unsold inventory which ties up cash as well.

From conversations we've had with Andy, I suspect the main reason for the lack of releases is the slowdown in production in China (due to winter snows and labor shortages). Every manufacturer has talked about it, and K&C only announces what they will release in a 2 month window. If things get delayed, they get bumped to a later Dispatch. I know K&C has a lot on the drawing board. I don't know that the economic slowdown is having a huge impact on this hobby - we haven't seen it here at Treefrog.

That Crusader looks awesome. Glad it's the 6 pounder rather than the 2 pounder. Stowage and camo scheme really look good on this.

Peter,
That's good to hear, my only point of reference is the secondary market and while things are still selling the edge, with few exceptions has really come off the prices things are going for, ie. demand is slowing.

Funny, I was thinking the exact samething. Not sure when the KC Sprint became mandatory but I am more than happy to slow things down a bit and smell the roses.

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT- AND WHAT A GOODIE THAT CRUSADER IS!!

That Crusader is simply a work of art. It is like looking at an Astin Martin on the showroom floor- just blew me away. 11/10 Stars for KC on this one. That is such an interesting tank- battle record was average- think it was more to do with the fact it went up against the dominant German armor. It may have had a better record against other nations if push came to shove. I think the success of the vehicle in combat was due more to the excellent crews.

Still, the sloping armor was a massive change from design of Allied tanks- look at the Shermans, Grants, Matildas, Stuart, Churchill, etc- very boxy and present a tasty sillhouette for target practice. Plus, it had the external fuel tanks- seemed to borrow from the Russian designs to some degree. Seems a sin it took nearly 40 more years before the US got on board with the sloping armor design in the Abrams.

The retirements were pretty interesting- may not be able to get the Rauppen Schlepper now- who knows.

Well, in honor of DDay, I bought DD53- British Commandos, DD61- Rangers on the beach and of course, keeping pace with the third consecutive month of Egyptain Retirements, I ordered the Stone carvers.

Anyway, that Crusader is the sexiest KC armor piece I have ever seen- could very well top the Russian T-34 as, imo, the best KC tank ever done.

I also agree that a slight slowdown is welcome.
There are other lines, namely AWI, Civil War, WW1 by K&C that I need to catch up on. Shouldn,t post it on the K&C thread but Figarti is now doing "must have now sets".

Thank you Andy,
I knew that Austin K2 would make an appearance sooner or later. RAMC stretcher party just great!

I watched the original Memphis Bell documentary not so long ago , one shot showed the ground crews waiting for their birds to return and a line of waiting ambulances but i'm almost certain some if not all were K2s not Dodge as you usually see. If i'm right then a USAAF version would please alot of people. I'd love a RAF or BEF version too. I've looked forward to this model for so long and if i'm lucky could end up with at least three versions. Hope K&C will release differant variations if not will have to try my hand at a repaint!
Very happy !:D

I was expecting more of a D-Day theme, seeing as it is coming up on the anniversary this week. It would have been a perfect time to release some German FJ's in Normandy camo, but there's always next month. Atleast you 8th Army guys finally got that Crusader you've been wanting.

Yeah- I agree- I was thinking the same thing. So, in order to compensate for it, I bought the last of the DDay sets I want to get- DD61- June is DDay month- no if's, ands or buts on it.

Hope its not long before we get 360 degree walk rounds on the K&C web site of the K2 & Crusader etc. Next best thing to holding it is seeing the full 360.

That K2 Ambulance is freakin' sweet!!!!:cool: I totally agree with RAMC on all points. I am lovin' it!!! Also the Crusader looks fantastic, as does the stretcher team and the tank riders!!:cool: Way to go Andy!

The ambulance is just incredible! I don't collect WWII myself, but what a great piece. All of the new releases look great. Nice tank too. Great job K&C!

OK,
I'm with the pack wondering about alternate versions of the ambulance? Can some of our esteemed members give us the historical side and various applications of the vehicle? When was it first in service? Was it with the BEF in france in 1940?

Based on some conversations I had with the man himself, I think (I don't have inside info) this will at some point show up in Western European camos. But let's face it, since he made a Vickers, an AK IV and a Stug for both Desert and Europe, it's not a stretch to realize that the ambulance will reappear in Western Theatre.

While my primary focus is late war AFVs that Crusader looks so good I have to admit I'm tempted. I've always liked the look of that tank.

The chassis has a very modern look. The turret with its extensive shot traps and lack of cupola probably wasn't the best design but it sure looks good.

We'll see how my other projects go. I may be making an exception for this one.
