Funny, I was thinking the exact samething. Not sure when the KC Sprint became mandatory but I am more than happy to slow things down a bit and smell the roses.
GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT- AND WHAT A GOODIE THAT CRUSADER IS!!
That Crusader is simply a work of art. It is like looking at an Astin Martin on the showroom floor- just blew me away. 11/10 Stars for KC on this one. That is such an interesting tank- battle record was average- think it was more to do with the fact it went up against the dominant German armor. It may have had a better record against other nations if push came to shove. I think the success of the vehicle in combat was due more to the excellent crews.
Still, the sloping armor was a massive change from design of Allied tanks- look at the Shermans, Grants, Matildas, Stuart, Churchill, etc- very boxy and present a tasty sillhouette for target practice. Plus, it had the external fuel tanks- seemed to borrow from the Russian designs to some degree. Seems a sin it took nearly 40 more years before the US got on board with the sloping armor design in the Abrams.
The retirements were pretty interesting- may not be able to get the Rauppen Schlepper now- who knows.
Well, in honor of DDay, I bought DD53- British Commandos, DD61- Rangers on the beach and of course, keeping pace with the third consecutive month of Egyptain Retirements, I ordered the Stone carvers.
Anyway, that Crusader is the sexiest KC armor piece I have ever seen- could very well top the Russian T-34 as, imo, the best KC tank ever done.
