Just a Jeep - Please!!! (1 Viewer)

So OK, now that we are finally going to get a new Kubelwagen, would it not be great to get just a plain old Jeep with a detachable driver and passenger(s).:)

Perhaps it could come with a 50 cal or a radio. But with the way the improvements (example, the Medic Jeep) that K&C has made over the earlier Airborne Jeeps (with trailers), it sure would be nice to have one or two plain Jeeps. Nothing fancy, I'm easy to please.;)

What does everyone else think about this suggestion of mine?:confused:

I can't tell you how much I agree with you and yes a .50 cal or radio would be nice.

The newest KC Medic Jepp is a thing of beauty and frankly it's one of the best sets released recently but please how about a nice jeep.

I'll join with the boys above. A nice generic jeep. Maybe with the provision for a pedestal MG (either .30 cal M1919A4 or .50 cal M2HB). I know that K&C is noted for the excellent rendition of stowage, so maybe TWO jeeps? One could be a generic "Truck 1/4 ton 4X4" and the other could be a Cavalry jeep with MG mount and radio. The stowage could be apropriate to each. Ration boxes, water cans, etc on the "regular" jeep and ammo boxes, crew musette bags, map case, etc on the recon vehicle. Of course in the K&C tradition, I assume we'd get a figure or two with each. The "regular jeep" could have a driver and passenger in the early (M1941) field jackets and leggings, while the Cavalrymen could have tanker jackets.

Just a suggestion.

Ditto. A plain jeep with removable accessories so we could modify it the way we see fit...specially if doing dios.

I join in this request. As good as K&C is getting with wheeled polystone vehicles, I would love to see a simple jeep like the original wood para jeep Andy first made back in 1995-1996. The superb detail on that first jeep could be reproduced in polystone for a fraction of the original cost.
 
I'm in, Stowage, radio, 50 Cal, also maybe re-do all of the soft skin stuff without the raised letters and stars, everything removable, tons of supplies etc................Alex
 
Just two words in regards to what the jeep could look like-"Rat Patrol". Supplies and a 50 cal. Oh-ya !!
 
God, I loved that show! I haven't thought about it in a long time. Yeah, lets have a Rat Patrol jeep!
 
Don't get off track fellows.;) Just a plain jeep with a few accessories to go with the other D-day vehicles like the GMC 6x6. Other jeeps could follow, but lets keep this on track for just a jeep.:)

Here here - I love the BB jeep so a roof off with 50 cal and/or british version as well as a summer with roof on would be good - and don't forget the para jeep, SAS desert and NW Europe and.....:cool:

Time for the tablets again:D
 
Looks like HB has both an American Jeep and German version in the works.

Hello, I just picked up the First Complete season of RAT PATROL on DVD last week. I just love that show too. I have it next to my computer and watch it while I am "surfin". It's really great to relive that show and the times I had as a youth replaying those adventures. Just wish they had some "real" german fighting vehicles. I have a little harder time today watching those Patton tanks with German marking chasing our Rat Patrol guys :eek:
 
I hate it when Hollywood used the wrong vehicles in movies and TV shows. Another example is the movie "Battle of the Bulge", with nary a Sherman or Panzer to be seen.

On the other hand, in the movie "Kelly's Hero's" there were real Shermans and Tigers (although they re-sheetmetaled M3 Halftracks to depict Hanomags) and in the movie "A Bridge too Far" there were also real vehicles and aircraft from the period.

Good point Louis. Is it me or are there more re-enactment vehicles around now? Or do movie makers just take more care - look at Band of Brothers for example against 'Patton' even though it was made so many years ago when there should have been more WW2 vehicles! :rolleyes: If you count the dodgy T55 tiger thing, Ryan wasn't too bad either.:cool:

Compare with the film Battle of Britain where the Spanish airforce depicted the Luftwaffe (I think - apologies if wrong) and there were many flying spitfires and hurricanes - that film could not be made now?:confused:
 
Imo there is much more attention to detail in war movies these days and I'm sure that the greater availability of restored vehicles has assisted this. For example the 3,500 restored vehicles at the recent War and Peace show in the UK: http://www.thewarandpeaceshow.com/

Coincidently I watched The Battle of the Bulge DVD yesterday and it hasn't improved with age :) The movie got just about every detail and fact WRONG and I hope someone does a decent remake. One of my fav movies is the relatively low budget 'Saints and Soldiers' that depicted a more accurate interpretation of the Malmedy Massacre. The vehicles, uniforms and equipment used looked very accurate and the action scenes were much more believable than the poor 'Bulge' attempt.

TOTALLY AGREE AGAIN......There were relatively modern German Leopard tanks used on A Bridge To Far, if I remember correctly, which were really bad though........Alex

You are so right. If anyone looks close at the so called news films of the Japanese attach on Pearl Harbor. Theres not a Japanese Aircraft to be seen. There are
Navy SBD's TBF's & P35's. This always ticked me off. When they showed the news at the movies the grownups told me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Not on the same subject. This is for anyone interested, I was talking with Louis the other night telling him I had a friend send me the DVD from the UK Tank Museum, The Tiger 131 Story. This is a great DVD it is well done. You need a DVD player that will play PAL format I have one. Run time 60+ minutes. I have not try-ed it on my computer. Will advise.

Oz - I take my son most years .....It is a fantastic show with many ww2 vehicles and much more.
