New to King and Country (K&C) , I've been admiring a few of their aircraft. While many are grounded and enjoy K&C tanks and wheeled-vehicles, not many post much about K&C airplanes. I had a few questions for those of you who own a plane or two.

So what is K&C aircraft made from? Poly resin similar to their vehicles? Any metal parts on these bad boys?
Is the landing gear static or can one open and close the landing gear?
I read that wheels do not turn on K&C aircraft. Is this true - no recreating landing/crash scenes?
Lastly, can K&C aircraft quality be compared to K&C buildings? Sort of rough, symmetry a little off, or are K&C planes well designed and straight like the real deal?
Any favorite K&C planes from those of you who have some experience on the subject?

Some questions for a K&C aeronautic discussion...

Hi WesternOutlaw In response I have 4 K&Cs Albatross. These are made of polystone, the wheels don't move but the prop do. The quality and detail are excellent.
I do have some other TS airplanes but the Albatross are my favorites.

K & C actually makes two type of airplanes, wood and polystone. However, the former are very expensive (but my favorites). I do have a few of the polys though. Overall, I have about 17 of the K & C airplanes.

The polys are the more affordable. The polys don't have any metal parts to my knowledge. The wheels do not turn and, yes, they are very well designed. The latest P 51 looks outstanding. If you're looking for more features and moving parts, the Corgis might be your answer.

Figsrti's airplanes are top notch. They're made of polyurethane and I believe (but couldn't swear to it) have metal parts.

I only have the FW190A & am quite pleased with it. I think it ranks up there with the best of K&C mainstream products. It could be that there are fewer discussions than tanks because many keep their planes stored in boxes like I do & use them in a scene when needed (they are big & don't fit into a scene as ubiquitously as a vehicle) or that there are simply few issues. However while few in number, there have been some discussions I recall on planes...but nothing regarding the quality issues that you describe. The Me262 had some heated talk for center of gravity, one of the little rocket planes for existing at all, the price of the Typhoon, colors of a Spitfire, recently the landing gear of the Mustang, but nothing of poor quality issues. The finished products are quite neat in appearance & aren't sloppy that I can tell...maybe more trained eyes would be bothered but if so they have been quiet here. There's always going to be arguments regarding colors in WW2. Just a fact of life. I know one self professed expert who's had to backtrack his absolute statements in books more than once regarding colors.

For more pics & dioramas, Luftwaffe always catches my eye so Wayne comes to mind, but some others do RAF too.

I've got a handful of the K&C warbirds and I think they're great. Over time there have been lots of pieces released to support the warbirds like groundcrew, pilots, support vehicles etc. I agree with the others you need to be choosy because at 1/30 scale these are BIG BIRDS! {sm3} Displaying them can be a challenge. I have some Corgi's but K&C have superior weathering and cockpit detail IMO. JJD make fabulous WWI planes and Figarti has many nice pieces too. Too date I've noticed the manufacturers tend not to duplicate releases so you just need to sit back and take your pick. One thing about all the various company's releases, for whatever reason they are always made in fairly limited numbers so don't wait too long because before you know it they are all snapped up.

Thanks for taking the time to comment fellas. I can completely understand the "size thing". I was previously into 1/18 scale figures and vehicles and had purchased a 1/18 Stuka. While I love the piece, even hanging in a room takes a bit of space. I've been looking at the N. Africa planes as well as the Luftwaffe collection. Equally nice are the wonderful figures/accessories to go with the Luftwaffe aircraft. The new P51 and Curtis are real nice as well. The difficulty is picking out one of these beauties as they all look spectacular.

Appreciate the feedback,

-WO
