I recently acquired DD036 and DD037 which consist of 101st and 82nd airborne figures. I also have some British airborne from the MK series and some Fallschirmjagers. Personally I think the American Airborne are the best followed closely by the British Airborne. Am I in the minority? or do most WWII collectors feel the same? I would love to see some more American Airborne in the near future but I fear it will be some time before that happens.

I agree with you. Especially the 82d Abn. Sure would like to se more. Warlord.

Looks like your fears have been confirmed (mine as well unfortunately). I gotta think DD046 will become highly coveted over the next couple months and will shrink quite quickly from the shelves of vendors when it's retirement is announced.

You know, of course I love the US airborne but they hold a very tenuous lead over those Red Devils- they are just very well done.

They are both very good arn't they,i'm glad i got all the US Paras before the started to retire. Now working my way through all the Arnhem figures.

I do like DD 46, but the really interresting one is DD 56 (the three paratroopers desending). Has anyone displayed this set, or have comments about it? I think it will be one of the most highly sought after ones in the future. "Airborne all the way"

I don't have the three paras descending yet,but i do seem to remember one or two people having problems with the parachute lines becoming entangled, however the figures look good to me.

I have my DD56 suspended over a 10 foot by 6 foot diorama of an RAF airfield I call "D-Day minus 2". The diorama has around 25 K&C warbirds, including a B17 Flying fort (which made a forced landing and whose shot up crew, one of which is in a stretcher are being met on the tarmack by several dignataries, including USAAC Captain Clark Gable), airborne forces standing next to a Horsa Glider talking to Ike and Jim Gavin, various RAF pilots, ground crew servicing the planes, and K&C Austin K2 ambulances, Bedford QL Fuel Bowsers, and a prototype Austin Tilly Utility truck in RAF markings. Other than the B17 crew (Frontline) the only non-K&C items on the diorama are a HECO tin AEC Matador Truck and weather tower (the other buildings, an RA Quonset Hut and Control Tower are both K&C). Despite all of the other items on the diorama, everybody always focuses on the descending paratroopers, who are suspended diagonally as if a stick whose shoots had opened in the order they had jumped from the plane.

So thats it Louis ? - thats all you have in this airfield diorama ??

I mean - come on - sounds pretty basic to me....:p :p :p

WOW !

:D :D :D

What a great layout ! I think I saw this under construction last year with Gordon doing the airfield - right ??

Very impressive.

This is the most impressived airfield and warbirds display I have ever seen. It is simply magnificent. THe Horsa Glider is my favorite and it is awesome. I have pics of this too which I will eventually get out here.

Yes, Ron, the airfield diorama you saw Gordon building is the one I was referrring to. Its been quite a bit expanded since then, so the next time you can get up to NY you will have to take a look.

I cant believe I am going to jump into this and talk about one of the most over talked about subjects on the forum. But DD36 and 37 are so out of scale it is ridiculous. When displayed in a diorama with enemies from the same range,WS48 and 49 they almost look like different manufacturers.WS48 and 49 are too small and DD36 and 37 are way too big. They have heads like basketballs. If DD36 and 37 are true 1/30,WS48 and 49 must be 1/40.Has anyone else noticed this?Anyone out there who is fine with these 4 sets and would like to purchase them, let me know.I love K&C but this ruins the diorama IMO.
