I have been working on making a display of a WWI train headed for the front. I haven't gotten very far yet, but it is starting to take shape. I hope over the next few months to get it where I want it. Since it is on top of my study furniture, you really can't tell how unfinished it is from just standing on the floor.

I used the 20' box cars for this display. I still need to paint the German cross on the box cars. Eventually I will get there. A five week old baby in the house has definitely made me short on time on everything, but her. :)

How many of you are working on similar displays?

Looks superb. Did you make the platform yourself or hit a train store?

Wow !

What a clever idea, troops leaving for the front. I am very impressed with all your displays. Your photos are wonderful. Please share more with us as they continue to grow.

WOW  If that's not finished I can't wait to see it finished. Looks absolutely brilliant :)

That is a truly original and outstanding display. I look forward to your updates.

Outstanding work! The set up so far, and the idea are brilliant.
Can't plan a train dio, as I don't have the space, but will look forward to seeing yours develop.
BTW, the top of the furniture would seem like a very strategic place for it with the new addition soon to be on the prowl.

I'm also a model railroader. Your work is outstanding. Thank you for sharing it.:)

Thank you all for your kind words. That makes me feel pretty good even with it not being finished. Very many details yet to go.

I bought the train station already pre-assembled and painted at Hobbylinc.com.

I got the box cars there as well and I have the basic painting done. I think I bought the last two in stock.

The pieces are Aristo-Craft which is 1:29 scale. I was looking to buy the box cars from USA Trains, but their Ultimate Series which is 1:30 scale did not have any 20' box cars.

I am looking forward to Andy coming out with the French. I want to do a French train that contains a 20' flat bed car with the box cars. On the flat bed, I will hope to place one or two French artillery pieces. Hopefully the 75mm. If I have to do so, I will buy a couple of FOB031 sets and use those guns for the train display.

I do hope one day that one of the train companies will come out with a WWI train set or sets that are 1:30 scale or very close that will look good with K&C figures. I forgot how much time it now takes to paint!!!

Here are the close up pics of the Naps display I have that I posted some time ago.

Train Platform works really well with the figures:cool: , nicely frames the whole scene,

Attempting to get a few wagons together myself for WWII,waiting for stuff in the post, will post some pics when they pull in:)

Did someone say "trains" on the forum lately? :)

Still very slowly adding pieces. After seeing that 1/6th German WWII train on the forum this week, my train display looks very pitiful so far.

Hi mk26gmls,

I think your train display looks very, very nice. I hope you will post additional pictures as you add more pieces. I will most certainly look foward to seeing them!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

How did I miss this the first go around. Simple but very nice indeed.

Is the riffle of the last soldier broken?

JP

It is bent. It might break completely off if I try to move it back into the correct position. When I get some time to try to fix it if it breaks, I will then get it right.
