K&C Ancient Egyptians (1 Viewer)

Nice to see this thread come up again. This series still has so much more potential, just hope K&C still see it as a winner and keep up the creative inspiration for lots more items. Cheers, Robin.

Yes the potential is definitely there......I would like to see this set continue for a long time......^&grin

Great pictures. I wish I had started collecting these years ago when I stared my K&C collection.

i wonder if anybody has painted the statues and facades as the egyptians would have done

I've thought about it a couple of times, but nixed the idea for two reasons: (1) I don't have a very steady hand and am, therefore, a lousy painter; (2) even if I had better painting skills, I'd only consider it if I had a duplicate set.

Dear "Gideon":

It is a great idea to think about regarding painting the walls of the Temple, etc. But after thinking about it very briefly I decided not to try painting these items or even have someone else try it. Better safe than sorry I guess. Perhaps one day we will see a photo of a painted Temple wall or whatever posted at the Forum?

Charlie Tarbox of Tarbox Toy soldiers in Gettysburg was talking about having the Egyptian head piece painted. I am considering doing it with all my pieces too.

Charlie was going to send it to some of the Russian studios so who knows. I am hoping to swing by his shop a week from today so we'll see. his shop is one of the best I have ever been to as far as displaying his figures that are for sale.

I know these aren't K&C, but was on display/sale at the London show a year ago.

Yes, though the temple appears to be scratch built....

Thanks Chris, I thought so.

Now if you were going to do Egyptians this would be the way to do it !! The temple is amazing. Picture that with the new K&C on the outside vending their wares. Fabulous.

That set up by Del Prado with slaves pulling a stone is the kind of what I have been hoping K&C might do. Thanks for finding the photo for inspiration. Cheers, Robin.

that one could be pretty tricky- if the ropes are made of real rope, they may tend to sag which wouldn't look right. If they are made of metal, they may be very fragile. I think it would be a good set though not sure I would buy it as I don't really have my Egyptians building a pyramid. We'll have to see.

Here are some cropped shots from the original photo.

If you are ever in Gettysburg, stop by Tarbox Toy Soldiers. Charlie has a series of 2 or 3 pharoah statues in his display. He sent one out and had it painted. It is very effective in the diorama. I would be very afraid to do it myself because I am just not that good.{eek3}
