K&C April Dispatches (1 Viewer)

Here's a photo of a Rammjager.
Just a quick message from Andy to clarify what K&C is coming out with with this Rammjager.
The plane in the photograph that Brad found is a Fokker Wulfe 190 with underwing jet-assisted propulsion.
K&C's is completely different in that it is a jet-propelled flying bomb (no propeller), not dissimilar to a V1 Flying Bomb.
But don’t worry guys, you’ll see if for yourself next week!

I managed to track down this from the net. It went under the title of Rammjager and looks about right according to description.

Sorry if I caused any confusion

You did not cause any confusion as the word Rammjäger is usually associated with the Fw 190A-8/R8 Sturmbock.

On the other hand, Andy used the word jet in his dispatch. To my knowledge, there was not any Focke-Wulf jet produced during WWII (but I may be wrong).

After re-reding the dispatch, I think that Andy was giving the Fw as an example of what was done by Germany in the last years of the war and was not referring to the upcoming WS100 (again, I can be wrong).

There were only few jets, not only that were produced but that saw service, before the end of the war.

They are: Messerschmitt Me163B, Messerschmitt Me262 (forget that one) and the Heinkel He162A-2 (that one would be cool).

I deliberately not refer to some big planes produced by Arado or Heinkel.

My guess is the Me163B Komet.

Pierre.

Perhaps there is confusion between ramjets such as Focke Wulf's "Super Lorin"

http://www.luft46.com/fw/fwsuplor.html

and Rammjager versions of the Focke Wulf 190:

(A simple A-8 with a ton of armour, not even the long-nosed "Dora-9"). Interesting subject though,

Very interesting post. I wasn't aware of the Super Lorin project

There was a war movie which had a V1 type plane / bomb with a cockpit contained within the movie. It showed the testing of it with a female pilot. Was it Operation Crossbow? Haven't seen the film for a while and don't know whether the plane / flying bomb ever existed, but could that be it?

Oh forgot to add (in all the excitement of the Rammjager),

well pleased with the additional individual tankers. The 252 half track looks v. nice too.

Simon

Simon.i agree with you mate, love that tank crew! Will look cool with loads of vehicles, got to get the new Kubel too.

Rob

New Tankers are great - it helps with the building of different scenes with buying the same products. Great Idea - need more of them in the future. :)

The ramming plane in the drawing looks like the "Natter" rocket/jet type (to me, but I'm not much of a Luftwaffe nut) I doubt that its like the ME163 Komet.

The movie Operation Crossbow had some excellent model/reproduction footage of the V1s. The scene about riding the bomb was based in history. Several pilots were killed flying the Fi103 then Hanna Reitsch pulled off a successful test flight. This was the same woman who landed a "Storch" light aircarft in Berlin to rescue Hitler. One biographer listed her as an unrepentant Nazi to the end of her life. Andy could produce a figure of her to go with the reported Storch model - something different.

Thanks Gary,

That was the one I was thinking about, but didn't have the supporting knowledge.

As the Natter did not see action, I doubt that it will be the WS100.

Of course, it would be a great model too.

Also, I agree that a figure of Reitsch would be different.

Pierre.

Didn't she make an appearance in the movie "Downfall"?

My T-34

Granted, it's 3x smaller :-(

I recently read 'Skorzeny's Special Missions' the memoirs of Otto Skorzeny which has an interesting chapter about the development of Skorzeny's idea for a piloted flying bomb based on the V1. Skorzeny also refers to these piloted bombs as 'rocket fighters'. Initial test flights of the manned rocket crashed, but a third test piloted by well known German aviatrix Hanna Reitch was sucessful. According to Skorzeny, production of the service version of the rocket was commenced and pilots selected and trained, but the project was abandoned in Autumn of 1944 due to a lack of available fuel (and other more pressing concerns).

So, could we be getting something like the Fiesler Fi-103R-IV?

That German T-34 makes a great start for a Battle of Kursk set! How about a Ferdinand as well?
