I promised sometime ago to post some pictures and I think I am finally getting my digital camera figured out, well maybe.

The first picture is a 175-man 42nd Highlanders (Black Watch) square.
The second picture is my modified 42nd Highlander Flag Bearer with a Frontline Regimental Color.
The third picture is a 167-man 71st Light Foot square.
The last picture is my modified 71st Light Foot Flag Bearer with a Frontline Regimental Color.

Notice in the last picture, NO SNOW. It finally melted today.

I wouldnt want to charge those square - OH MYYYYYYYY

How did you get those great regimental flags ?? Did you make them?

Unbelievable - WE MUST HAVE MORE FRENCH CALVARY ! :D

How did you get those great regimental flags ?

Frontline sets:
GLI.6 - 71st Light Infantry, Officer with Regimental Colors and NCO
NBW.6 - Blackwatch, Officer with Regimental Colors and NCO.

I first cut the muskets in half on the K&C figures.

Then removed each arm by slowly moving them back and forth parallel to the body freeing up the socket connection at the shoulder. I used my fingers for this so as not to damage the paint or the figure when using a metal tool. It did take some slight pressure to free them up, but with patience I was able to remove the arms.

Using a hobby saw, I cut the remaining musket pieces from the top and bottom of each fist. I then used jewelers flat file to file the top and bottom of each fist smooth.

Using small drill, I drilled out a hole in the fist large enough to just fit the color staff into it, being careful not to drill through the fingers. I then painted the fists a light skin tone mate color.

The last step was to put the arms back into the shoulder socket, using gel super glue. This gave me enough time to position the arms and color staff to make it appear as a natural way that a fellow would hold it.

At first, I did not glue the color staff into the holes through the fist. But, the flag is so heavy that the figure has a tendency to fall over if it is not positioned in a balanced way. So I glued it into position once I found the correct angle. I think they look ok; it’s just that they are not officers, but K&C does not offer an officer figure that can be modified.

Michael

I cant even image what that had to cost you to put together.....

Outstanding - wow - really great.

Michael, it looks like lots of money there, LOL. Great display and I am no expert on Napoleonic warfare formations but that likes pretty authentic.

Thanks for sharing,

Carlos

Michael.

I agree those are very impressive displays indeed, now I can see why there is a world wide shortage of K&C Highlanders :D

Do you have as many dead French cavalry to go round these squares?

Dont know how you arrive at the conclusion that their is a Worldwide shortage of K&C Highlanders ? check out K&C UK they have most of them in stock if you need some and at the old prices before the dollar rallied against Sterling.

Happy collecting

Absolutly Awsome :) Superb collection. I saw a similar display at the Armoury of St James Toy Soldier shop in Piccadilly recently, but not as good as that!

Their figures were mostly Frontline and the Britain's Surgeon set!

As an aside can anyone name the British Regiment whose square was broken?

Thanks Michael for pictures of your conversion and collection of British infantry in a square. I did not know you had Napoleonics. I figured you are mainly WWll. John

LOL

It always cracks me up when new members come on board and start reading through old posts - then they post something to it and everyone else jumps in and thinks this is a new thread :p:rolleyes::D

This thread was started in FEB 16 2007 !

Anyway - great work on the british square - get ready for some French Artillery ! ;)

There possibly could have been when Jeff posted his comment 2 years ago.
