K&C Collectors Club (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know why the Collectors Club is going to cease operations this April?

May be a cost thing or a restructuring of the club to launch a new club . I picked up some leaflets and collector magazines at the weekend. How many people are members here and how many are there worldwide?

We should be able to know by this week on what is cooking here.

The email I received today regarding the club states that until your current membership expires you will still receive the "Collector" and the current brochures. After membership expiration, only customers ordering directly from K&C in Hong Kong will be able to get these magazines and brochures free with their orders. All Club members both expired and current will be able to purchase "Special Club Figures" on a first come ,first serve basis. Four new Special Club figures are planned to be released from now until the end of 2016. After club membership expiration shipping charges will be 20%( currently 10% as a member) to the US, Australia and Europe if the purchase is under $250. Purchases greater than $250, shipping is free. K&C War Birds do not qualify for free shipping.
I always looked forward to getting the brochures and the Collector magazine as a Club Member. I guess K&C is trying to get more customers to buy directly from them.....tough love for the dealers.

Interesting changes.........I'm presuming we should still be able to receive K&C Collector magazines and leaflets via our K&C dealers in the future?

I've never been a big fan of manufacturers competing with the dealers. I'm sure some other industries do it but I can't think of any other ones off the top of my head. This is not to single out K & C as they all do it. As a matter of fact, K & C is probably a "Johnny Come Lately" to this practice.

Suggests NOT if it says Hong Kong!? Surely this is a mistake and will Limit the Collectors Club to its Narrow Hardcore Members! Publicity through ALL its regular and not so regular members is essential to attract Appeal to New Members and younger Collectors.. Brochures seem to be now considered as waste and a drain in resources, not an effective tool in attracting sales. But I argue that it got me aware of K&C in the first place. So how many other collectors saw the brochures first before the actual figures? The internet say You Tube, is very good medium but its not by no means the one that will attract new blood to collecting. Magazines and the traditional methods still are needed. I only started collecting in the last 5 years. I would like to know the average age of the K&C Collector these days?
Its probably 45 to 55? and its getting older by the year..

I joined the K&C Collectors Club virtually the same week that I started collecting their figures. I am sure it is a valuable community for many but as I have a dealer ten minutes from my house I see brochures etc. at the shop before I receive them in the mail. After the two years was up I did not renew, not because I did not value the material but because I could see it easily enough while wearing my collector/customer hat rather than bothering with my club member hat.

Hi guys,

So, if I'm reading it correctly, no more membership fees for the collectors club?? I opt in and out of the club purely based on the issue of Napoleonic figures. if there are no Napoleonics then I am not a member. But from what I'm reading here we can all join permanently at no cost for actual membership?

No, there is no more club. You can buy a figure as you like, without the payment of any fees, the same as you could do with any figure. Basically, it's a cost cutting move when it comes to the brochures as well as an incentive to try to get you to purchase direct from K & C.
