The Crusades is a good segue to your decision to collect the Sudan. If John does one of the Canadian whaleboats that carried supplies for the Gordon Relief Expedition down the Nile you will be all set with that Magic Water. With some of the K&C desert buildings and palm trees along the route you will have a spectacular scene. If JJ or WB do a gunboat you can really go to town. We all wait with great anticipation.

Great scenes and lovely building Michael. I also really like your use for ground material. Is is some form of forest scatter?

Thank you Mark, Bill and Titus...

Bill...the ground work is made from the large bags of mulch you buy at Home Depot and dump in your outdoor flower beds for decoration and to prevent weeds...I run handfuls through a coffee grinder to bring it to scale somewhat...

Randy...you're right...the piece you bought is a very good example...as are so many of the "SP" series K&C structures...they can make an easy transition to JJD's Nile series or any series indigenous to that locale...the structures of that era are timeless...and even today...some almost 1000 years later...they are still suitable...seems like some of the Middle East never changes.

This is MK14...Fighting Knight With Axe and Shield...

and

MK38...Defending Saracen With Sword and Axe...

I have collected the K&C Crusader's series for about a year now...

I have almost all the foot figures, except some of the very newest (MK's 69, 70, 72 and 73...which I'm not sure I will buy) and am looking to finally collect all of the mounted figures...

I have a question...

The foot figures with axes...does anybody else have trouble with the paint chipping on their weapons......

it seems like a commonality on almost all of them... except the newest one...MK68...which has a removable axe?

Does anybody else have trouble with the axe handle's paint chipping?

Really like the pictures. It makes me want more of them. So it is your fault, I was blissfully unaware of some of these wonderful figures!

MK13...Crossbowman Firing...

MK22...Man at Arms With Sword and Shield...which I just got...thank you Mike...

MK36...Saracen Charging With Sword and Shield...

MK61...Loading Saracen Archer...

with Barzso Adobe Wall Section as background...

MK10...Standing Knight With Flag and Shield...

MK17...Horn Blower...

MK63...Wounded Templar Set...

with a small building I made from Hearst Molds...

MK05...Foot soldier With Spear...

MK06...Foot Soldier With Spear and Shield...

MK25...one figure from The Catapult Set...

with a small building I made...

Hi Michael,

I have most of the MK foot figures myself, and I've encountered the excact same problem as you!
Every single of my foot figures with axes have paint chips on the handle just above the hand :-(

Niels

Yes.......just above the hand also...

Niels...I'm sorry for you too...

every single one of mine is chipped...

but I'm a little relieved that it is a bit of a common problem and not isolated to me...

I'm still bummed out ...

the axe handles are just too soft and flexible...

It's like the lead they use should be should be stiffer and less pliable...

I noticed the same thing on my ladder set (MK26)...where the ladder itself just bowed in the middle...there was a thread on here a while back where this had been recognized as a common problem with other Crusader collectors...

I want to repair mine...but I hate to destroy the purist value with a touch up paint job...

the wooden handles of the axes and spears have some darker wood grain strokes for detail that I don't think I can replicate...

Can anybody tell me exactly what color paint the handles are?

I will pm you with my phone. We can talk about the colors for the axe handles. It really looks like you have most of them.
