Another repair was much more complex that the previous two I have posted tonight.

This time is was NA041Empress Dragoon Charging w/Sword and as you can see he has a few breaks.

Dragoon a.jpg
Plume bent and loose.
Top of horse hair on helmet was broken off.
Front left Forelock broken off.
Two legs broken off at the hoof.

The plume was removed, straightened and repined using a 0.3mm drill and wire, as was the top of the horse hair on the helmet.

The forelock pinned and joined with 1.0mm drill and wire and also both hoofs.

Show before cutting the lower pins off leaving about 4mm wire pin.

Next the joins were filled, sanded smooth and then paint retouched to give an almost original finish.

This was a most rewarding project and I was proud to be able to bring this figure back from the scarp box, and I'm sure his owner will be most pleased with the result.

Nice job John. What do you use to fill the small gaps on the legs where they broke? Thanks

Nicely done John, certainly alot of candidates out there for you.

I currently us TAMYIA white filler,

which I then smooth over the gap, let it dry (1 hr) and then file smooth. depending on the size of the filler I sometimes undercoat, but usually just paint over.

Hope that helps,

Ray,

I think I've got more than enough work on at the moment, just look at what is shown on this Forum !!! :)
