K&c Increases Prices : I need Another Job! (1 Viewer)

I will thanks. I think K&C might be just the first to raise prices while Britians and Collectors Showcase have not: will they be next to?

It always seems to me that the price per figure is related to detail in sculpting and painting. it also seems to be so with most all manufacturers. More detail in the sculpt usually means more metal in the mold or more work on the mold. More paint detail means more time on each product.
If the Paras come out with more detail than so be it. Ya get what ya pay for!
If less detailed future rleases such as AmRev or AmCivil war figs go up in price.
Then it maybe raw material cost or wage increases. Or the "price of tea in China."
(or ale at the pub?)
As long as they don't jump up considerably I for one, on a working stiffs budget, should be able to handle it.(not like the price of fuel anyway!!)
O.C.

Wow the entire Market Garden series plus tax is around 800 and thats only the first release. But, you do have to pay for quality.

Yeah but in my opinion the sculpts in the Arnhem series aren't as good as previous K&C efforts so that doesn't explain the price increase. It's a production cost issue.

I tend to agree to a certain degree, but then I haven't seen the actual figures yet - just the photos. I don't think I'll be getting the entire range but shall obtain certain figures so as to have at least some paras in our collection. Will be mid-2008 anyway - so by that time K&C might have released some additional MG figures that appeal more. Guess we'll just wait and see what they come up with.

Cheers

Indeed, perhaps the next waves will be more inspiring. I do like the jeep without the trailer in the first wave.

I saw the Arnhem releases in person at the Chicago Show, and held the figures and vehicles in my hands. I also saw the prototypes for the Anti-Tank Gun and Piat sets for the second release. Frankly guys, they were some of the best figures I've ever seen. The figures were often sculpted in poses strikingly similar to figures from the original Arnhem release (which over the years many collectors, myself included, had often told Andy we wished had been done in todays level of sculpting) re-done in todays level of sculpting. I would respectfully suggest that you wait to see the figures in person before you make a final judgment about them.

I'm making no judgements yet Louis. I do like some of the new releases, especially the "on-patrol" ones cos that's what appeals to me personally. I.E. The short space of time before things went tits up for us. I am extremely interested in what's coming up in future, especially the PIAT set. Won't be in a financial position to get any of them until mid-2008 anyway. Must get them Naps and Crusaders first. Plus my pre-orders with the guys at K&C UK.

I saw the figures at the show as well, I loved them. The sculpting was very King & Country. While the heads are a bit large and the sculpting wasn't the best the overall the look and paint was top notch. I was however blown away with the new Collectors Showcase Arnhem sets, they seem to have a new sculptor and the paint was just excellent. Both collections will fit very well togethor. Collectors Showcase vehicles were just superior though, the Marder and Flak30, unbelievable. I am saving to buy both.

OC,
I do my best to increase the production from previously non financially viable oil wells. If you guys on the forum would pass the hat around so's I can afford my future K&C purchases, then I'll redouble my efforts to put more oil on the market and force the price down.
